Cozy Unisex (Armani Code Profumo Dupe)
There is only one statement about this elixir so far, and yet it says almost everything there is to say about it: "Very realistic Armani Code Profumo clone." But how did I, a Fresh n' Fruity fan, come to this fragrance direction? Quite simply: You don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
… just kidding, I actually do now ;-) because this French creation is truly remarkable. When I received it, I first noticed the beautiful packaging, which has a special texture, with the fine satin-black ribbed cardboard featuring embossed copper-colored letters. The bottle also reflects the wavy pattern in its particularly heavy glass, finished off with a lovely chrome cap. So far, it feels very high-quality.
Then, with the first spray and in the next quarter of an hour, the Chancellor shines with a fresh fruit basket of the listed top notes, with the apple carrying a bit more weight. This blend is also underscored by a warm spiciness; yes, this fragrance impresses with an aromatic sweetness that increasingly develops after about 30 minutes and seems particularly suitable for the winter months. And that’s also the reason why I’m only commenting on the scent now. Because I actually detect a slight speculoos note, which is very pleasant and fits beautifully into the cold season. Nutmeg, like the Profumo, is not present in this clone, but it doesn’t miss it either. Otherwise, the fragrance pyramids are very similar, and you can smell that too. In a direct comparison, I even noticed that the Chancellor is a bit more pronounced in both the initial phase and the final third of the drydown than the original, although it does become sweeter and a tad more synthetic towards the end (the larger share in the diagram is perhaps only in the late drydown). So, like many inexpensive fragrances, there’s likely a good amount of Ambroxan in it, making it long-lasting (it lasts forever on clothes ...)
And because it’s a clone, I allow myself - with thanks - to copy a bit too ;-) Because Mantus aptly titles his Armani Code Profumo comment "Distinctly lovely aspects," while Basti87 writes in his comment, "For men who like sweet fragrances, this is an absolute feel-good scent. For me, it’s a beautiful sweet fragrance that I would especially recommend to younger gentlemen." This also applies to the Chancellor, although I can easily imagine this scent on women as well. Because in addition to the sweetness, it brings a lovely aroma that makes it exciting and special - in other words: attractive.
Conclusion: The Chancellor is a very successful Armani Code Profumo dupe that hardly falls short of the original (Mantus describes the Profumo particularly well in his comment). Those who like the original will probably also enjoy this French creation, and if you want to save money, all the more (100ml for under €20). So, if you want to get really cozy in the cold season, I recommend the Chancellor: a sweetly aromatic unisex scent for cuddling!
Edit: because it became (much) too sweet for me after about 5 hours, I let it steep further and my rating dropped from 7 to 5.
