Wonderful, but why so thin, Mr. Morabito?
Admittedly: I don't initially expect a stylistic independent hit from affordable (but very good) brands like Pascal Morabito. We know they all like to borrow from somewhere: a little bit from this one, a bit from that high-end manufacturer. Morabito, and especially Saint Hilaire (from the same house), like to work this way and they are on the successful side.
And yet, Morabito has managed to launch a very distinctive fragrance with "Bois & Pluie." For me, it has become one of the few scents that I love to sniff with delight because they are highly associative. It has something late-summery about it. Ripe plums and other fruit trees, along with the shortening evenings and the lingering heat during the day. I have embraced this fragrance with my heart more honestly than very few others.
But what are they doing at Pascal Morabito? They have a true cash cow in their basket, and they release this fragrance as a thin cologne version! It’s a tragedy because it evaporates as quickly as bees from the hive. Reapplying and reapplying is the mantra of this scent; otherwise, the wearer and the surroundings get little from it. Are they crazy in Paris?
Surely Mr. Morabito means well with us, as he also sells this fragrance in a 200ml bottle at a good price at TKMaxx. However, I would gladly forgo all that and prefer a 50ml bottle in a denser concentration. I would even be willing to pay more for it.
I hope these prayers are heard in Paris. Otherwise, it means: reapply until it glows.
