Sepia Details in Monochrome with Dimmed Gamma Value
The opening is very spicy yet still subtle, not in your face with a musket full of spices; the pepper beautifully carries a dry vetiver note that brings the oud like a cloak of shadows. Everything is very smooth and has a gentle smoky note that seamlessly integrates into the monochrome scene, which highlights certain elements in sepia. It is dark but not pitch black; it is a dreamily melancholic scene, late October, a forest walk on a cloudy day. Everything has a slightly surreal touch, and there is mystique in the air, and you smell earth and withered herbs. After a while, you find an idyllic, peaceful little forest cemetery, where the oud note increasingly comes to the fore. The earth shines in sepia and is interspersed with mulch, while you notice a slight greenish shimmer on some gravestones and angel statues. There, the patchouli gently and subtly joins in. The wind is fresh but not cold; it carries the underbrush and a soft, barely perceptible hint of cedar with it. Not pitch black, but a very beautiful, dreamily melancholic fragrance. Thank you very much for the decant, InGENIEur.

With the Magical Power of Forest Spirits
Forest, forest, always forest. This is also an inexhaustible theme for me in terms of fragrance. And some "Parfumo" comment readers might already have leaves and needles sprouting from all their sensory organs, but I dare to try again.
Since I have a fragrance that I can call my own, named "Oud Vetiver Royale Absolute," from the company Perry Ellis.
Cedar, fir, juniper, and various dark woods nestle everywhere within me, and when I am at home and close my eyes while sniffing, I am truly in the forest.
And there, forest spirits of the most lovable kinds enchant me and whisper a catchy melody to me that is as ethereal as they are.
The scent of damp forest soil, caused by the patchouli, makes this impression even more perfect.
And, what is also important to me:
The longevity is ABOVE AVERAGE for me, the sillage is not a huge scent trail, but permeates the entire room (when I am "indoors") with a kind of soft stereo music, subtle yet still clearly perceptible.
And I have "sought out" this wonderful fragrance; I have not seen it anywhere in a German perfumery....

Vetiver Cream Cake
You always look forward to vacation. But especially to perfumes at airports. Why? Because of the fragrances in the Duty Free areas around the globe. And since Düsseldorf disappointed me a bit this year on the way to the Caribbean, my hopes were pinned on the perfumeries at Punta Cana Airport. Unfortunately, it looked rather bleak at first and second glance, especially regarding the prices. I certainly wouldn't buy anything there. Nevertheless, the Perry Ellis Oud line managed to lift my spirits and curiosity a bit - new, stylish, never seen before, and good-smelling. Test candidates were found. Unfortunately, there was no tester for Black Vanilla, so I went for the Rose and the Vetiver.

Vetiver Royale Absolute is a nose-catcher, especially for fans of dry grass like me. A bit of Guerlain's classic, mixed with something creamy gourmand, plus the office-friendly bitter vibe of the Cartier Vetiver stick - voila, a warm, delicious, and extremely wearable representative of the Vetiver fragrance family is ready. High quality and miles above the actual Perry Ellis standard. At the airport in the Dominican Republic, they seemed to have all available scents from the brand, and many are just mediocre. This one is not. I don't quite understand why the word Oud is retained in every perfume name. Perhaps to create a darker vibe or because there's a hint of Oud in all three creations - as a going-out and evening Vetiver, I could certainly imagine this balm well. A fine concept and worth its price, almost niche quality. Significantly better than the rather lackluster Saffron-Rose, even if neither of the two really takes any new or daring paths!

Bottle: completely satisfactory
Sillage: above Vetiver cut, still suitable for the office
Longevity: shines for 8 hours

Conclusion: Vetiver always works - here delicious, creamy & tangibly green, almost a bit liqueur-like. Very fine, even if it's not a world novelty in Vetiver!

More Jürgens than real Oud.
But pampering vetiver, the creamiest kind
+ a bit of patch-hippie velvet.
Less Orient,
more cuddling.

Forest bathing on damp mossy ground. Lying in golden autumn leaves, looking through the bare branches into the blue sunny sky.

It has a slightly chocolatey note in the wood-vetiver blend. I wish there was real oud in it and the accords had more emphasis.
