Wild and Untamed
After testing countless samples and perfumes at Alsterhaus to find out which fragrance would be the first niche scent to join my collection, Untamed Oud has triumphed over my very picky "self." But how did it manage that?
SCENT: The fragrance is unbeatable in creativity at the opening and heart. Normally, I can pick out fragrance notes and certain nuances when I have the notes in front of me. With Untamed Oud, it is very difficult for me to name even one scent note responsible for this exceptionally wonderful fragrance. When I spray this scent, I get the association of a passing sandstorm, wild and untamed, as if you perceive something different at the end of the sniff than at the beginning. This is probably due to the dry scent character for me. Oud is very overshadowed by other notes here, but you can tell it’s there, giving the whole thing a mysterious quality, not as a prominent scent note but rather as a presence. For me, it’s very creative, dry, slightly woody, with a hint of sweetness. It smells very, very natural and thus is not overwhelming for the nose even with frequent wear.
Simply a brilliant overall composition.
Sprayer: 11/10. Never seen a better one. A controllable spray mist that even Dior can't compete with.
Longevity & Sillage: 7-8 hours after a small spritz on my arm. Radiates 2-3 arm lengths for a couple of hours and then becomes increasingly close to the skin. Not a beast... more like a very present aura that surrounds you.
Bottle: Beautiful darkened glass. In the upper half, the fragrance is invisible, only becoming clear as you move down. The fact that the bottle is handmade crowns the whole thing.
Price: What can I say? 610€/100ml. exorbitantly expensive and, in my opinion, priced too high. However, I got the fragrance at a price I couldn't refuse.
For people like me, who have already tested many fragrances and know a lot in the niche world, Untamed Oud is a clear recommendation to test as it stands out even among niche fragrances.
