Very natural Lilac and Lily-of-the-Valley
I have been thinking lately in which scent Lilac is performing in the most blooming and natural way. The answer is PIERRE DE VELAY LES CLOCHETTES DU BONHEUR BY Roja Dove - the perfect scent for springtime.

It opens up with fresh glorious Lilac which immediately takes me to the nostalgic journey to my childhood when we had a garden full of Lilac bushes. Opulent Lily-of-the-Valley intertwines with Lilac bringing light green and soapy touch to the scent. There is not that much sweetness despite of Amaryllis and Ylang-Ylang nor the overly rich texture or sourness which the latter one often offers so the fragrance maintains its mild, bright and fresh character and Lily-of-the-Valley is the star of the show accompanied innocently and beautifully by Lilac. The brand nominates Jasmine as a main note and it may be that Lilac plays such a big role for me in this because of the memories. There are Jasmine like aromas In Lilac and LiLy so the combination of those flowers unfolds seamlessly creating the harmonious cloud. The base is only supporting the concoction without being creamy nor dominant but it turns somewhat intoxicating opening into very indulgent, classy and soft composition.

Les Clochettes du Bonheur is utterly charming and subtle, delicate floral for all Lilac and Lily-of-the-Valley lovers who respect the natural luxurious olfactive experience.

The perfect embodiment of lily of the valley in a fragrance?
Les Clochettes du Bonheur has been in my possession for a while now, and I recently acquired it as a bottle. Les Clochettes du Bonheur is the first Pierre de Velay to join my collection as a bottle.

Right off the bat, I can tell you that I must advise against a blind buy for Bonheur just as I would for an oud fragrance. Bonheur is an absolutely unique scent but also very specific, which certainly may not appeal to many.

Now, let’s get to the most important part: what does Bonheur actually smell like? To keep it short and sweet, Bonheur smells exactly like what you can see on the label of the bottle. For me, Bonheur is at least 75% the pure scent of lily of the valley. I couldn't detect the bergamot in the top note at all. Instead, I get an absolutely authentic lily of the valley note right away. The lily of the valley note is surrounded by ylang-ylang, jasmine, a bit of lilac, and amyris. I would consider jasmine to be the second strongest note. I also can't smell the base notes, which I find very good because musk and sandalwood in the base notes often ruin the fragrance for me. In general, I would describe Bonheur as a very linear scent that perfectly embodies the theme of lily of the valley and spring in this case. I find the use of lily of the valley very interesting because it is actually a rather demanding fragrance note and is probably associated with the lovely month of May by relatively few, perhaps also because lily of the valley and all parts of the plant are very toxic. After all, lily of the valley was not named Poison Plant of the Year 2014 for nothing.

The longevity on my skin is good to very good, lasting 8-9 hours. The sillage is even very strong in the first few hours and truly perceptible beyond an arm's length. Only after 7-8 hours does Bonheur slowly become more intimate.

Initially very green-soapy, this lily of the valley, before being overshadowed by waxy-creamy & powdery side notes that feel artificial*

If it's lily of the valley, then Dior. The mix here feels a bit too prim and laundry-like for me. The green doesn't save the scent either.

"The bells of happiness" don't ring for me here. Instead, there's a lot of flowers (mainly lily of the valley) on a lot, very much almost piercing +

Beautiful, slightly intense lily of the valley scent from Roja Dove, flanked by other white flowers and cushioned with musk: suits me.

Surrounded by white lilac, lily of the valley bursts forth, almost aldehyde-bright, exuberantly from the cold ground. Very present.

The lily of the valley chimes,
The lilac blooms,
Musk adds cleanliness,
Jasmine gives sweetness,
For me, it's too much of everything, it overwhelms.
