My love

This is my favorite fragrance I’ve tried from more than 500 fragrances sampled, not sure what it is but it speaks to me!!!
Beautiful opening of dry fruits, tobacco, and I get an Iris note… dries down to beautiful fruity tobacco. This isn’t the longest lasting or largest projecting… this is a perfect evening scent to wear to either formal or casual events. I feel like it’s something that can be dressed up or down and surprisingly I can wear this in the heat of summer with just one spray on each collar bone and it works great!!

SMOOTH TOBACCO, ROUGH PRICE TAG

This is a beautifully composed, well-blended pipe tobacco scent. It kicks off with a fruity burst, and let me tell you, I'm a total sucker for a good apricot note. Combine that with rich tobacco? Say no more, I'm hooked. There’s also a touch of davana in here, which always smells to me like warm apricot-flavored floral tea. Absolutely gorgeous. It’s slightly sweet, but not in a candy-coated way — more like a fine pipe tobacco. Cozy, comforting, and refined.

As it dries down, it shifts into something more dank, a little darker, even slightly mentholated. There might be a patchouli element in there too, giving it that earthy edge.

So, so good. Not loving the price though, and I never see this go on sale or at any of the discounters. Otherwise, I would’ve purchased it. Smooth, beautiful, true tobacco with a fruity opening and a darker, moodier drydown. Just a good scent overall. Simple, straightforward in its composition, and well-rounded.

Nostalgic Memories

I received a pre-sprayed tester strip with this fragrance on it in an order for another fragrance. Before then I'd never heard of this brand. I'm so glad they included it because this transported me back in time as soon as I smelled it. My grandpa used to roll his own cigarettes out of Velvet Tobacco, and he always had a giant can of it sitting around. I can remember being next to him when he pulled the lid off of it, and a smell almost identical to Tobacco Royal came wafting out.

To me, this smells like freshly dried tobacco - not the kind one would find in a modern cigarette, but the vintage kind. It's a little earthy and maybe even slightly nutty. I believe they flavor it with molasses, and maybe licorice or anise as well. There may be a hint of fruitiness as well. All this combined is exactly what I smell on this fragrance and I love it.

Lovely tobacco from Richard herpin

This is an overlooked well crafted tobacco fragrance.
Rich with fruity florals, this is a well crafted gestalt of separate notes.
What makes this for me is the top and mids.
The apricot note at the top is amazing, supported by the rich boozy aspects of the davana make this a very complex fragrance that comes together beautifully as a whole.

Tobacco in the background

Review based on a free test strip I received in a perfume order.

I would really have to try testing this on my skin. From the paper strip, the tobacco seems to be lost in the background. I get a sweet, apricot-y, vanilla scent that dominates over the tobacco. As it is, it's too sweet to me and leans more feminine.

Cannot comment on longevity or sillage based on only a test strip. I probably won't be getting an actual sample. Besides the sweetness, $275 for a bottle is too expensive for what it offers.
