An Obituary...
This fragrance is truly a gift. It is sensual, enchanting, and always reminds one of particularly beautiful moments. It's a shame that I used it up so quickly a few years ago when I had it. Because today, unfortunately, it is nowhere to be found. Here on Parfumo, it seems to be leading a shadowy existence as well. So let me introduce it to you, as it doesn't even have a comment yet.
I no longer remember how I got the sample back then. Probably some kind of addition during a sample exchange with like-minded people, as so often happens. With Gift, a single test was enough, and I immediately knew I wanted it. What is that beautiful scent? Is that JPG Classique? Yes, a certain similarity cannot be denied. However, Gift smells like a Classique that has already been on the skin for at least two hours. We are immediately greeted by a velvety, delicate vanilla with a fabric softener undertone. The floral notes are present, but they remain in the background, so the fragrance, unlike Classique, does not initially come across as floral. And that is exactly what makes it special. But wait, stop. Why do we have vanilla here? The fragrance pyramid does not contain any. I can only find orchid alongside all the floral notes, as well as amber and sandalwood in the base. I would say, I don't believe that. Gift is definitely a fragrance with vanilla, which never loudly proclaims "Hello, I am a vanilla, vanilla, vanilla...", but it is still present. It cuddles up to the skin and sings softly along with the other base notes. Very fine!
Exactly, here we have another difference from Classique: Gift is not a wallflower par excellence, but it is never too loud. It is always there and has its presence, but it is always within a pleasant range. At an average dose, this fragrance is never too much. It lasts from morning till night. Perfect.
With the bottle, which is not only incredibly bulky but also damn heavy, you could easily knock someone out. The packaging is also amusing. A folding box that, once opened, is just as difficult to reassemble as the insert of a medication.
In contrast to many very expensive fragrances from this brand, Gift was affordable. I don't remember the exact price, but it must have been around 100 euros or less for 50 or even 75 ml. For me, Gift was always the more beautiful Classique with more sophistication. I absolutely cannot understand why this dream fragrance could not hold its ground. I would have certainly repurchased it, probably not just once.
