FRUITY OUD MASTERPIECE
"One Thousand and One Nights" is a collection of Middle Eastern tales framed by the story of Scheherazade, a clever young woman who tells stories to delay her execution by the vengeful King Shahryar. Through her tales, Scheherazade not only saves her own life but also transforms the king. The fragrance takes us on a journey, from a harsh, smoky opening to a mellow, sweet, caramelized heart, and finally to a spiritual, meditative, woody incense base.
The experience begins with an immediate oud and hay opening that is both animalic and barnyard-like, reminiscent of a clean stable. There's a mentholated undertone, coupled with an authentic note of unsweetened beeswax. This dramatic opening mellows after about ten minutes, transitioning into the resinous heart of the fragrance, where labdanum, plum, and apricot-like osmanthus take center stage. A hint of sweetness from caramel and vanilla gently softens the tart dryness of the plum and labdanum, accentuating the woody base without turning the fragrance into a sweet gourmand.
In the deep drydown, smoky labdanum and burning oud chips dominate, stripping away any remnants of sweetness or fruit, leaving behind a pure woody incense base.
This strong, long-lasting perfume tells a complex and captivating story, much like the tales from "One Thousand and One Nights."
