Streetlamp?
This is the second Roads fragrance that I am testing. Lights sounds to me more like a "bright," thus light fragrance, something casual for warm days and so on. Well, let's see how this scent is.

The scent:
The fragrance starts off citrusy sweet. You can definitely smell the peels of the specified citrus fruits, along with sweet-floral jasmine and also ylang-ylang (I think this must be the other floral note, as I am not very familiar with ylang-ylang). Additionally, it already has a scent of pepper or clove, which seems to come from the clove bud in the heart note.
From the heart note onward, a slight synthetic feeling overtakes you (but it's not bad). You can smell a bit of rose here, while the jasmine still seems to be in the foreground. The citrus notes have completely disappeared here.
In the base, it becomes a bit woodier, with the heavier sweet notes of amber and musk coming in. The (slight) vanilla makes the scent softer and smoother or warmer (though the vanilla does become a little stronger over time).

Longevity and sillage:
The longevity is average, lasting about 5-6 hours. Probably even less.
The sillage is also average. After spraying, the scent could still be perceived from about 2-3 meters away, but this impression fades quickly. However, I think that if sprayed generously, it could cling well and radiate, just not for a longer time.

The bottle:
The bottles from Roads are all the same. They are cylindrical and have large white caps. Overall, they look quite nicely made, even if they somehow appear slightly sterile. I haven't seen the bottles in person, but in the pictures, it looks like the perfume liquid in the bottle is lighter than in the sample (the one in my sample is almost red).

The scent may be unisex, but for me, it clearly leans towards the feminine side. It smells too floral-sweet, even though it becomes a bit woodier later on.
Overall, the scent is not bad, but one shouldn't expect something special. It is simply a solidly made, slightly synthetic perfume with floral-sweet notes and average longevity.

Since the fragrance notes are not too overwhelming (properly dosed), I would describe Lights as an all-rounder, well-suited as a daytime/office scent, but too unremarkable for going out.

And to be honest, you miss nothing if you don't pay further attention to this scent.

Pop Art, something completely different
Admittedly, the scent is extremely unusual; perhaps that is exactly what fascinated me personally about this fragrance. The first thought of association was immediately Pop Art. Bright, strong colors, artificial light, plastic furniture. Simple bottle with a magnetic cap, which for me also represents a modern and new type of fragrance.

Extreme scent opening, bitter peel mixed with ylang-ylang and jasmine. Opposing scent notes, creating a synthetic impression.
In the heart note, the rose dominates, with geranium still receiving substantial support from the top notes. The fragrance becomes increasingly softer, although there is still a certain bitter undertone detectable. The synthetic aspect slowly recedes without completely disappearing.

In the end, the fragrance becomes softer and creamier, interwoven with a slight sweet note.

Certainly, for some fragrance connoisseurs, this is a scent that provokes, and criticism is likely to arise; nevertheless, for me, it is a highly interesting and new olfactory experience, beyond the everyday and familiar, which I liked so much that it easily found its way into my collection.

I love classic paintings, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a Warhol on the wall either. It’s the same with fragrances.
Something completely different, I like it. There are times and occasions when it fits better than some classic scents.

I Have Seen the Light - uh ... Smelled It
Light is a fascinating phenomenon.

Physically, it is currently understood as a photon, as a quantum object. The Bible speaks of light as God's second creation after the heavens and the earth. Without light as a sensory stimulus in our eyes, we humans could see nothing. A well-known movie quote comes from Blues Brothers: “Yes, I have seen the light.” Jake and Elwood finally have the “enlightening” idea of how to help the financially struggling orphanage.

With Roads, it’s not just about one light but rather lights.

However, the creator of Lights seems to have occasionally found himself in a certain mental darkness. The top/heart note is quite special. Industrial solvents mixed with citrus cleaner, synthetic floral scents, and other chemical agents. I irritably wonder what this is supposed to be: nervous blinking lights, techno, or innovation? Roads manages to make a relatively expensive fragrance seem inferior effortlessly.

I left this strange fragrance start on my skin for a whole day as a test and was rewarded with a quite wearable heart/base note. Here, flowers blend with vanilla, sandalwood, and amber into a soft, spicy, pleasant base note, from which the synthetics do not stand out too much. One could easily get the impression that this part of Lights comes from a different perfumer.

This makes Lights very unbalanced. Rather an experimental scent for old and young, female freaks. I strongly advise against blind purchases. Unpleasantly, my all-day fragrance experiment at 25°C did not draw attention from those around me. For the idea behind it, I give 50%.

Roads has invested a lot of money in the marketing of its fragrances. Many leave me with the impression of commissioned works, assembled from known scent accords, with a low budget and a tight schedule. I would have preferred fewer perfumes with good, fully developed scent profiles.

Something for Jasmine Fans
I can't rate a fragrance poorly just because it smells of white flowers like jasmine. I simply can't stand them at a certain concentration and in one of several possible formulations in fragrances. Jasmine then smells animalistic and carrion-like to me. So it is with "Lights".
Right from the opening, "Lights" smells like jasmine to me, somewhat citrusy and slightly sharp-bitter.
On the other hand, I really like ylang-ylang. But as an opening, being inseparably paired with jasmine is quite intense for me.
For several hours, I smell the jasmine. Sure, there are also spicy notes, not very pronounced, but I can detect them. Rose, geranium, violet? I don't perceive any of those over a long period.
At some point, the jasmine weakens significantly, "Lights" becomes a little resinous-woody, ylang-ylang is still present, and I hope in vain for a pleasant base. Unfortunately, vanilla comes in now and warms the jasmine up a bit again. But then sandalwood takes over the still relatively strongly scented "Lights". And although I finally perceive a quite nice floral blend, but unfortunately only temporarily, everything gets muddled into something papery by the sandalwood, with a bit of vanilla on top. If I imagine the sandalwood away, that is, sniff intensely, then there is, despite the sandalwood, a creamy, floral, somewhat balsamic-resinous scent blend, jasmine and ylang-ylang have retreated to something bearable. Unfortunately, the musk with the amber does not assert itself strongly against the sandalwood.
But I still smell a nice creamy floral scent through the sandalwood.

Jasmine, already slightly faded, takes center stage and pushes forward. Everything else lags behind: which is no misfortune here.

Boudoir Belle / Rosa, Fontana di Trevi 18 and Lights! Who's who? You can recognize Lights by its red color, otherwise no real difference!

Starts off overwhelming with a mix of white flowers, bitter-citrusy. Rose + violet don't come through. Base: cardboardy sandalwood, soapy-vanilla-synthetic.

Tested yesterday: artificial iced tea with cinnamon scent. I expected much more. Caution: RED liquid - be careful with clothing!
