Neither incense nor water

Neither incense nor water. It opens with a luridly green, fruity top note that I later identify as raspberry leaf, followed by a syrupy rose-patchouli affair that quickly dries up, crumbling to a fine talcum powder. Incense Water is both really nice and really redundant. If you own even a smidgen of Portrait of a Lady (Malle), L’Extase Rose Absolue (Nina Ricci), or Isparta (Pierre Guillaume), then you are amply covered for this kind of thing. Having said that, the powderiness of Incense Water is really enjoyable.

Sweet incensey raspberry rose

Opens with a sweet, watery, raspberry rose. Settles down into rose-patchouli and a hint of spice. Initially I felt it was too sweet and powdery for my taste, but it's grown on me over time. The incensey sweetness reminds me of a more feminine Radical Rose by Matiere Premiere. Or Rose Prick by Tom Ford, but more powdery and less spicy. I feel that this perfume works better in warmer climes, but it's quite subtle overall. After being not so impressed initially, I've ended up buying a FB.

Beautiful rose

I stumbled upon Sana Jardin when I was visiting a boutique in London. I had been searching for a perfume that ticked the following boxes: it had to be feminine, floral and with a slightly hippie vibe. I immediately fell in love with Incense Water, a gorgeous watery yet lush rose scent with patchouli, musk and sandalwood to ground it. Though the notes may sound old lady or basic, to me it smells gorgeous and expensive. I’ve since tried other scents from the brand, but Incense Water remains my favourite.
