Bold spicy fragrance that doesn’t give me a headache - yay!
Makes me smell holy.

This fragrance seems to be polarising but for me it is spicy, rich, warming, resinous, balsamic gorgeousness. It opens with coriander, sweet amber, cinnamon, frankincense. I love the bold spicy notes, it smells delicious and feels invigorating yet warming.

I can’t notice the patchouli or rose so much initially, but as it starts to dry down it creeps in beautifully. I really really enjoy this fragrance. It smells like you could be walking into a temple room with rose petals scattered and the finest incense burning.

Yes it’s true it’s not original, but I would rather buy from an ethical company. And quite amazingly, it does not give me a headache or nausea, which I find to be a big problem for me with scents of this profile. The new bottle is very pretty too!

Fortified strength in spicy, sweet, resinous syrup
It opens with a big dose of cinnamon in a chewy resin sweetened by vanilla and rose. The initial burst of spice blends in after a few minutes, allowing the hint of incense to waft in the background over the unctuous labdanum and patchouli. After about 4 hours it settles into a furry patchouli, labdanum, vanilla.

I can see the comparison to Coromandel, but I feel that this one is much more naturalistic. Coromandel may be the "better", more sophisticated fragrance (très Chanel), while Tiger by Her Side is more intuitive and doesn't mind if she isn't everyone's cup of tea. She is a sweet and spicy mood booster for cold winter days. The feeling is very warming, sensual, and confident. A scent for people who are self-assured, comfortable in their skin, and live their own truth.

Yummy, syrupy resin and spice bath
I really enjoyed the experience of wearing Tiger by Her Side, despite it clearly being a Greatest Hits tour of perfumes that anyone with similar tastes as me in resins, amber, or patchouli scents will have certainly smelled before. The top half is an orange-tinted, balsamic patchouli with a sour, dusty cocoa-ish edge to it that gives off a pleasant impression of tobacco leaf – close to Tauer’s Sundowner, actually, with a shot of Benjoin Boheme (Diptyque) for good measure.

The bottom half is a deeply resinous amber, dominated by a powdery, cinnamon-heavy benzoin, and darkened with the earthiness of patchouli. Kind of like Chanel Coromandel, but less edible, more sour or tart in direction, and stripped of its white chocolate creaminess. There are even hints of Amber Absolute (Tom Ford) in the drydown. There is a lot of honey here, too. Think big, golden globs of resin melting and hardening to a glaze on your skin.

Tiger by Her Side is absolutely my kind of thing, and I am trying to talk myself out of a travel size. But no, you know what, if I’m wearing a perfume that not only makes me think of five or six other perfumes I either own or used to own, then I think that’s a sign to hang onto my hard-earned cash. I will, however, enjoy the rest of my sample.

Evocative
This fragrance opens with a sparkling, floral-spiciness driven by the harmonious melding of cinnamon, bergamot and coriander seed top notes. The sleek, golden danger of the tiger is captured through the animalics of the labdanum and siam benzoin notes which are, in turn, enrobed by the deeply honeyed-spicy-sweetness of Moroccan rose absolute. The Somalian frankincense evokes incense smoke and the spiritual bond between the Tiger and the Woman.

This fragrance makes me feel happy and calm. It is uplifting and evocative. Besotted.

Coromandel Overkill

Tiger by her side may be a very exciting name, but the content is actually what you’ve known for a long time. You don’t have to think long to realize that Coromandel is sitting in the bottle, albeit much sweeter and noticeably denser than the product from Chanel.

The scent itself starts off distinctly resinous, dense, and has a slight aura infused with cinnamon.
A lot of sweetness comes into play, which weaves in and out of the fragrance.
Patchouli hits like a bomb and doesn’t let go for a long time.
It’s a beautiful scent, yes, there’s no denying that, but the sweetness, which spreads more and more over time and takes my breath away, is definitely too much for me.
A little less would have suited it much better and would have made the tiger beside me purr noticeably. He would also be much tamer than he is now.

Actually, Tiger by her side is far too cheeky and hyperactive. There’s something unbalanced in the scent.
It’s not just the sweetness - something is missing here for me to sink mercilessly into euphoria.

Even the pleasant smell of light incense doesn’t make this feeling any richer.
On the contrary. The smoke enters the fragrance quite weakly and gives it a touch,
of a damp, dark cellar. As if the tiger were waiting for his executioner in the dim light of the cellar.
A real overkill in my eyes is also the fact that patchouli sinks so deeply into the resin, as if it were going to stay there forever, and it really sticks to my senses to the extent that I can’t endure the scent for long without it annoying me.

The longevity and sillage are truly remarkable and rival Chanel without question.
But less is sometimes more is the motto here.

It’s not a candidate for purchase, as I already own Chanel for a while and find it much rounder than the tiger, which should actually be gently padding beside me.

Husband smelled me and said, 'YUM this smells like the dino apple cinnamon oatmeal I used to eat when I was a kid,' and he's not wrong

Cinnamon and rose initially, but the dry down is something else entirely. Heavy resin and patchouli, feels like an occult store.

Reminds me of Aromatics Elixir which my Nan wore religiously. A warm embrace in a bottle - beautiful.

I was excited to try this, but all I got was cinnamon bun. Not wearable to me.

Cinnamon and more cinnamon. Reminds me of something my grandma wore, not that that's a bad thing.

An earthy patchouli wrapped in dusty spicy amber, smells old but timeless. Very delicate and elegant take on patchouli, one of a kind.

The tiger by her side is made of rose plush.
Cinnamon-sugar sweet is his earnest patch-brown gaze and the softest smoky little nose.

A little sweet tiger tiptoes past the citrus tree, through the spice field, by the rose bush. Nibbles on a lot of patchouli and then it's gone, in the smoke.

The little tiger starts to purr,
When the Siamese kitten
Rubs its cinnamon bergamot butt
Against it
It's all very balsamic
Damn, was...
