The Neighbor's Backyard ...
What happened in the neighbor's yard? I'd rather not know…

Actually, I don't like to write negative comments; it's much more enjoyable to focus on positive things. But with this fragrance, I can't get around it, even though I have a favorable view of the Smell Bent brand and was very pleased with this free sample that came with my Smell Bent order.

“The Yard Next Door” is a limited fragrance from the “Frankensmellie” series, which can presumably be derived from Frankenstein; just a reminder: a grotesque creature as a result of an out-of-control experiment, very fitting.

In my perception, “The Yard Next Door” smells extremely unpleasant; my spontaneous impression was (and still is) that of a huge mound of slightly rotten flowers, drenched in chocolate. On top of that, there’s a strange honey note. The listed fragrance note of melon is also clearly discernible, but it doesn’t make the whole thing any more pleasant.

It doesn’t just sound creepy; I actually shudder at this fragrance, which probably has to do with my completely contrary scent preferences. I like quirky fragrances, but this one is too much for me. I can certainly imagine that there are people who like this scent, but then you really have to enjoy very lush floral fragrances and sweet notes.

In any case, “The Yard Next Door” is not a boring fragrance; it evokes feelings and associations, but I still prefer well-mannered boredom to this horror story, to put it bluntly.

At least I give 40% for the courage with which this fragrance was consistently designed to match its name.
