Amber and Sawdust Passed by the Patchouli Bottle
This scent is quite one-dimensional, but as a "solinote," it is allowed to be. However, I expected something that resembles the rich, heavy, dark earthiness of pure patchouli oil. That is not the case here. This interpretation of patchouli smells more like amber, as known from mainstream perfumery (I have yet to experience real whale vomit), and aromatic sawdust. Only the top note emits a faint hint of that almost cool, dark earthiness, which quickly dissipates, and then the scent becomes increasingly woody until it ultimately breathes its last as a veritable carpenter's workshop.
This is not unpleasant, and I can very well imagine this scent for layering. But in my opinion, it's misleading labeling, because where patchouli is stated, there should also be patchouli inside.
