Dreamy, airy and cheerful

Butterfly Mind
Cherry blossom on top, something fruity and exotic in the middle. Buttery-nutty occasionally blows by (hazelnut leaves?). And light cherry (just a touch) with musk in the base. Fluffy, airy, transparent and tender. Reminds me of Roja Elixir Essence and Russian 'zefir' (traditional marshmallow-like sweet). You are sitting under Sakura tree somewhere in Japan. You wear a light pink silk dress, you write haiku while taking a sip of Ba My Dan white tea, from a fragile porcelain cup. Light spring breeze blows gently through your loose hair and you enjoy the first rays of the morning sun on your cheek.

Butterfly Effect

Nanu - what do we have here? At a Parfumo meeting, I was able to receive a sample from the completely unfamiliar fragrance label State of Mind. As I understand the brand's intention, they want to promote olfactory creations featuring special tea notes. It sounds a bit like Bulgari with higher aspirations, but okay.

In Butterfly Mind - apparently marketed as a perfume according to the homepage - Bai-Mudan tea has been used, a white tea variant with a fuller flavor and more intense effect. However, the tea does not stand alone; it is sweetly accompanied by cherry blossom, cherry, and guava, which makes our butterfly flutter quite fruitily and florally. The cherry predominates a bit, but everything is very light-footed, pleasant, and likable, although synthetic nuances cannot be denied.

Despite the initially positive impression, there is a feeling that the Butterfly doesn’t quite take off. It remains relatively linear for a long time and thus feels rather one-dimensional. Only at the very end does something like a subtle prickly fizz note emerge before the scent fades away. Otherwise, I see the fragrance more suited for young women in spring (if we ever have that again).

However, the following must be mentioned: I initially assumed, due to my lack of brand knowledge, that Butterfly Mind would be found in the mid-range, if not even lower price category. When I then read that €255 is being charged for 100ml, I was quite taken aback. I actually wanted to avoid the discussion about price/performance in my reviews, but here they unfortunately take off completely, despite the relatively attractive bottles.

In contrast, if I compare it to my favorite "Gris Dior" from the Dior Collection Privée, which thematically goes in a somewhat similar direction (and I don't mean the color), then the differences in quality become glaring, even though State Of Mind wants to play in the same price league.
