Hello sniffers and welcome to a new comment from me, in which I describe one of the new Aqua Allegoria fragrances from Guerlain, namely Flora Cherrysia, to be precise. You may know that I generally think highly of this line, as they are usually relaxed, beautiful feel-good scents, with a variety that should surely have something for everyone’s taste!
Unfortunately, from a male perspective, it’s unfortunate that most of these fragrances are, once again, only suitable for you ladies, as most of them smell quite feminine. This always makes me so envious! Sure, you might say that one should wear the scent they like, and that may be true, but damn it, I’m a guy! :D I don’t want to smell like a flower!!! :DD
*sigh*
But… at least I can smell these wonderful fragrances on a girlfriend… well, theoretically, that is, if I had a girlfriend… which, of course, I don’t have again, hmpf…! But at least I can test the scent on myself, it’s like I’m smelling… um… argh, no, forget what I just wanted to say… it wasn’t that important anyway! Better read the scent description :D
The Scent:
The scent starts wonderfully fruity fresh with floral notes. I initially smell a deliciously fragrant watermelon, which together with bergamot and pear smells very nice and conveys a wonderfully relaxed spring feeling. Then the cherry comes in and adds another fruity note to the mix. But don’t worry if you fear that everything might smell too bright and fruity, because I find that the fruity notes come across as truly perfumey.
A little later, the scent remains fruity fresh but also gains more floral fragrances. I might be detecting cherry blossoms here, as I generally perceive a cherry-like scent (but I’m just not sure if it comes from cherries or the cherry blossoms. And I’d rather not ask if cherry blossoms also smell like cherries… :DD). Additionally, I smell general (white) flowers as well as violets, which are somewhat faint, but you can still detect their sweet-powdery scent.
While the fruity notes are still clearly in the foreground at the beginning, they weaken over time, so that in the base, the floral scents smell slightly stronger than the fruity ones. Woody notes are added, which, together with the flowers, give a somewhat "dry" impression, but the scent remains lovely overall, even if the namesake cherry becomes harder to detect towards the end. Musk sweetens the scent a bit towards the end. Oh, and the scent has a slightly clean note, which almost smells soapy, which might also be due to the aforementioned musk, as musk doesn’t smell soapy but can sometimes come across as clean.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is moderate to weak, which is a bit unfortunate, as you won’t be able to smell the scent particularly well on others (you have to get closer), but this is typical for most summer fragrances and generally for the Aqua Allegoria fragrance line.
The longevity is also moderate at about five to six hours.
The Bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical and has a domed cap on top. A gilded honeycomb dress has been attached to this dome, which looks very nice as always. Additionally, the bottle is further enhanced by the pretty pink fragrance liquid. The cap is round and also gilded. All in all, the bottle is, as usual, of high quality, feels good in the hand, and simply looks great.
So… yes, that was one of the new Aqua Allegorias. I liked it. Even though the scent isn’t really anything special, I still enjoyed it. Yes, I would love to smell this scent on a lady. I may not have a girlfriend right now, but I can only recommend you ladies to try it or even wear it and delight those around you, even if the scent isn’t technically a world novelty and is only "above average" good. Because I’m sure it smells quite nice on you!
Yes, that’s how it is. It’s not a scent that you would miss painfully if it were discontinued. But you certainly wouldn’t go wrong wearing it now and then on nice spring and summer days, especially if it’s for leisure, or as a relaxed and unobtrusive scent at work or just for yourself. And as mentioned, I want to emphasize again that I think the scent, despite many fruity notes, doesn’t come across as girly and shrill but rather beautifully feminine.
So a test can be worthwhile! And that’s it from me again, I wish you all a lovely evening and see you next time :)
