A popular perfume by Stendhal for women, released in 2011. The scent is sweet-spicy. The longevity is above-average. It is still in production.

Stumbling on my mind...
I have a confession to make. It may reduce my already low credentials in perfume reviewing even further, but I think it's the right thing to do.
I often fall for names that ring the bell of my pagan instincts, or kickstart my primal fears of walking blind in a tenebrous dungeon.
They sometimes make me like a perfume before even smelling it. Fall in love with its concept even. And yes, I know that I should have abandoned this kind of thinking since 12, but I guess my love for the thrill of the unexpected keeps it alive all these years. But in Noir Divin's case, the unexpected was way too surprising.
If I had ever seen this baby languidly lolling somewhere in a lady's boudoir, I'd be something like "Gracious sakes lad, this must be some lady and you absolutely have to smell this on her skin!"
A name evoking the mysteries of the night, a bottle that could hold a shady and probably dangerous potion and a house whose name sounds like a secret location where witches meet.
Noir Divin had it all.
Except the perfume itself. It's still a great concept, but for a different perfume perhaps, cause this one may be a very nice lady, but it's neither Noir nor Divin. No mysteries, no danger, and the witches eventually met someplace else. Nothing to shake your world here.
It's actually a very comforting scent. It's as comforting as a cup of hot cocoa, especially when you drink it next to a vase filled with freshly cut roses and powdering your nose every now and then. But what you'd expect from something called Noir Divin wouldn't be to offer you comfort, but rather to send you seeking comfort after encountering it, possibly along with a shoulder to cry on.
I won't blame the perfume itself, neither I'll say that it failed to meet my expectations. After all, it's not its fault if my mind created a wild and mostly inconsequent image about its potential, before smelling it. To tell the truth it's started to slowly grow on me. But for completely different reasons than I initially thought it might. The question now is whether I should try to test its namesake too, a Swiss red wine, if I ever happen on it, or simply avoid the risk of yet another disappointment. Cause you can test a perfume as many times as you like without any nasty side-effects, but how many times can you test a wine before detox becomes ineluctably necessary?...

A Divine Odalisque
The generous Chrissy included a sample of this fragrance with my purchase, and after reading the pyramid, I had to test it immediately.
Bullseye, dear Chrissy!

Right from the top note, I am enveloped in a luscious, spicy oriental cloud. The elemi resin and bergamot have formed an erotic and challenging connection here, while rose and cinnamon add further depth. A combination that makes me practically melt!
My imagination kicks in and presents me with images of a harem chamber, where the adorned and perfumed favorites await their master. I see precious silks, painted eyes, skin dusted with glitter powder, cushions of gold brocade...this perfume brings the entire Orient to life, with all its secrets and opulence.

As the fragrance develops, it becomes even more oriental and intimate. I detect amber and woods, along with tonka bean and patchouli...the scent has a depth and opulence that is unparalleled. Lavish, yet never overwhelming or unpleasant due to the truly perfect combination.

Noir Divin is not a subtle fragrance, not for the timid or shy souls. This fiery intoxication wants to stand out; the wearer must be clear about this from the start. If I may say so, ND is a fragrance for confident voluptuous women who know their allure and love to play with it.

The sillage is ready to rumble, and the longevity of 7-8 hours is absolutely satisfying. The bottle looks very pretty in the photos, but I will also be able to assess the original: as soon as my sample is used up, Noir Divin will move in with me!

More for cooler days - But I like it!
17.07.2014 / Weather Humid warm / First impression:
Wow, delicious, but very heavy. Not necessarily sweet, hard to describe. Very fruity, almost gourmand, spicy. Sillage strong, very lasting.

26.08.2014 / Weather Wet cold / Office suitability test:
The scent is very spicy, one might almost think it contains oud. Today I perceive the resins and cedar more clearly than cinnamon and cocoa. The fragrance has edges and corners. Sweet is something else. It is spirited, feminine, yes, yet I miss the rose a bit, I can't pinpoint it. The scent envelops me, even though I applied it sparingly. Sillage is not close to the body for me. Within a radius of 1-2 meters, it is clearly noticeable and fills the room. It has made a pleasant impression. Not an everyday scent, I can't think of anything comparable. It is a typical Stendhal and clearly bears the signature of its master. But I like it! Whether it will be enough for a bottle, I don't know yet.

Remarkable - the scent itself and...
... this is the first point, and secondly, that there are no comments on this scent yet.
Thanks to a fellow user, I was able to test it. My nose loves to linger on my wrist.
It fits, I can't detect individual notes - I just enjoy the overall composition so much. A scent that "arrives" directly, the beginning immediately reveals the upcoming base note, balsamic, patchouli-heavy, close to the skin.

I don't perceive the top note at all - that doesn't bother me at all.
A little of the heart note.
And then:
It stays and stays, lovers of scents that smell completely different after hours will not find joy in it.

However, perfume users who enjoy a scent that shows its final development from the very beginning will appreciate it.
And:
A truly wonderful scent for lovers of subtly ambered, slightly spicy-patchouli-heavy fragrances.
I perceive this scent as deep - sensual - warm.
It signals to me: I absolutely must "have" it.

Thick amber sea with many oriental spices.
Tonka cinnamon leading the way.
Expressive woods.
Soft and elegant!

Wonderfully warm, dark and cozy, like being wrapped in a blanket by the fireplace in the depths of winter, sipping hot cocoa. Incredibly beautiful!

Well, the scent isn't that dark at all. Sweet-woody with a slight oriental finish, Noir Divin is also suitable for men.

Dusty cocoa, really dark rose, generously sprinkled with cinnamon. It's a bit too much for me.

Strong, deep, and sweet - it should actually be mine, but it’s not. Too much amber, too much wood makes the scent feel stuffy for me.
