Dirty Soap
Clean Skin is accurately named from a technical standpoint. light flowery fresh start giving the impression of another in the long list of soapy-clean light sillage economical fragrances currently on the market. The second wave settles into a powdery rendition of a solid women's sports deodorant stick. These are not unpleasant accords, just unexceptional. Lastly, a scratchy sweaty unwashed bit of, let's call it "Egyptian musk-style" musk appears. My hypothesis is that most people might achieve this same experience by 1. Walking through a steamy Women's Locker room at a gym. Or conversely, by showering with any over-the-counter deodorant soap bar, followed by the application of a powdery over-the-counter deodorant stick and then just going for a jog/hot yoga class and not showering again until the next morning. C'est tout!

"Do you smell something?"
I asked the man who shares his life with mine.
"Do you smell something?" I repeated, a bit more insistently this time, extending my wrist towards his nose.
His nose, mind you - mine had already, showing me a bird, irritatedly denied it.
I truly couldn't blame her.

The Demeter scents I had known so far had never been particularly powerful - not for my nose, not for me.
Perceptible, that's for sure, and some quite distinctly present.
But not "Clean Skin," not the scent in the small roll-on that I had rolled over my skin, which was clean, certainly, but still should smell like something that wasn't me.
Yet there was nothing, absolutely nothing, not for me.
For his nose, however: "A few flowers, a bit of powder - not bad, but it doesn't have to be."
At least he smelled something - unlike me.
Had I suddenly become olfactorily blind?

Nearly two weeks later, I know: no.
No sudden anosmia puts an end to passion.
But "Clean Skin" is so delicate, so fine and so subtle, that my nose first had to "downsize," to dial down from the olfactory overpowering in the environment and the bottle.
And they aren't even particularly loud, the scents and odors that surround me day by day - often I don't even consciously perceive them, I filter them out or blend them into the overall picture of surrounding olfactics, which makes it difficult to impossible for scents like "Clean Skin" to break through, to reach consciousness with their gentle creaminess, the gauzy hint of powder, and a musk so light, delicate, and pure that I can hardly distinguish: Where does it begin, where does my own scent end?

"Clean Skin" is - rolled on, of course, not sprayed - a scent that is not immediately present, that does not reveal itself at once.
It forces - me - into an intense engagement, a conscientious exploration, a conscious desire to discover its notes, its effect, its quiet self-identity.
A fine, fragile, very intimate scent that does not carry far, which I only perceive with my nose directly at my wrist, where it feels soft and clean, natural and familiar like my skin.
Freshly bathed, powdered, and creamed.
Not more - and certainly not less.

Skin, skinnier, skinniest = Clean Skin
If I ever had the chance to experience a skin scent (the modern term for Skinscent) that is so skin-like and so innocent, so delicate - to call it powdery is already an exaggeration! - I couldn't even remember it. Clean Skin is a tiny little whisper. Not even a freshly bathed baby smells like this; in comparison, the baby is even over-perfumed. This is how clean skin (without soap, without anything) might smell, warmed by the sun on the first morning of vacation. Without coconut sunscreen, please, and quickly put back in the shade.

What initially flits past my nose cannot be named. Yes, it could be orange, but the bergamot seems to have only paid a brief visit. I don't perceive peach and rose like that, but there is a pink-cream cloud resting on my skin. However, it doesn't stay. Unfortunately.

Clean Skin is beautiful and, like all beautiful things, very ephemeral. So fleeting that I even tried to activate a few molecules by rubbing the application spot vigorously. That does nothing here. I think subconsciously you can still perceive the scent, but what about the consciousness? I would like to be able to smell myself when I wear a perfume.

Although it is so fleeting, I like it very much. Of all people, me, who usually deals with completely different kinds of fragrances.

Can I skip washing now?
Let me say right away, this fragrance lives up to its name. It smells exactly like this for about 5 minutes:

Freshly showered with Laughing Buddha from Rituals and then applied with the scent-neutral body cream from Kiehl's. A delicate creamy clean hint of fragrance, which lasts just as long as the shower gel-body lotion combo takes to dissolve into nothing. After a very short time, neither I nor my partner can perceive the scent anymore.

I also wonder if this is due to the oily form of the perfume, or if the scent was simply designed to smell like almost nothing.

Amused, I then ask myself whether one could occasionally skip washing with Clean Skin and thus shower French-style? However, I quickly dismiss this idea and I don't want to leave it to a trial.

Although Clean Skin smells pleasant, the fragrance concept is personally far too little perfume for me. I don't always need to wear a strong scent, but I wear perfume because I want to smell like more than just clean skin.

Creamy Room Spray
I almost forgot about this scent, as I didn't like it much at first and it ended up sitting in the box. Well, I still don't like the scent, but for the sake of completeness, I will write a comment about it as well.
Some people will surely like it. Fortunately, it is not disgusting, it just doesn't quite match my taste.

The scent:
I can't pick up anything from the bergamot and orange that are supposed to start things off. Instead, the scent begins sweetly and has a somewhat floral aroma of rose. Perhaps there is a tiny hint of peach in the background, but the scent mostly smells of rose and especially vanilla. And combined, it somehow creates a soapy character, as if you had washed your hands with dish soap that has a floral scent.

The longevity is short, lasting only about three to five hours.
The sillage is low. At first, it is definitely detectable from the arm, but the sillage drops very quickly until it is hardly noticeable.

The bottle is a bit different this time, as it looks like a deodorant roller. Which doesn’t necessarily mean it looks good. It doesn’t, but it is practical. The sticker,... no, the sticker isn’t any better, it seems to have been created quickly (I estimate it was made in Paint in about 20 seconds).
But it was a little change,... the last three Demeter scents, which will follow in comments, have the usual bottles as always.

Well, Clean Skin might appeal to some people who like sweet-smelling dish soap. Or perhaps fragrant creams. Or room sprays. To me, it smells less like a perfume despite the fragrance pyramid, more like cosmetic products for women. And women might indeed find the scent appealing, well, maybe men too. Oh, just smell it yourself.
As I said, not my thing, but also not disgusting or unpleasant.

Very, very close to the skin. A nice scent of clean skin. Theme nailed. You can hardly smell it.

Warm, silky skin, cared for with a delicate, sweet-powdery cream. This is how a skin scent should be: a whisper of almost nothing.

Unfortunately, it smells more like cheap shower gel, weird body lotion & sweet shampoo. I don't like it :-((

A somewhat monosyllabic peach scent, but still a pretty one. Fresh, creamy peach satin skin. Becomes close to the skin quickly, but lasts quite well.

Like just applied hours ago with a delicate-sweet floral cream + mastic/pistachio bark. Becomes more intense over time when worn.

I find the scent so wonderful, like freshly showered and oiled. THAT'S exactly how I want to smell. Thank you, Demeter, for this idea. I love it...(!!)

In the first 5 minutes, I smell nothing. After that, a very subtle scent of body lotion and sunscreen develops. Nice, but is it really a perfume?

Perfume? No, it's more like Nivea body lotion with a hint of peach.
