The beautiful villain
In the 18th century, British ships, especially those of the East India Company, played a crucial role in the expansion of British colonialism in India. These ships, in addition to transporting spices and other goods, also helped to consolidate British control over the Indian subcontinent.
Actually, Teone Reinthal’s Zeeba makes me think about the smells you’d have detected on those ships: from certain colognes worn by the mariners to the resins and the florals preserved in wooden holds.
I know this is quite a personal preference based query because, as an history and vintage addicted, I am still searching for my perfect simple woody rose scent. Well, Zeeba falls in that category and I find it to be the scent of those glorious times, marvelous in its simple, excellently executed blend of Taif rose, Vietnamese Oud and Mysore sandalwood.
Compared to the previous one, the 2024 edition features addition of Orange blossom and Qadeem (aged) hindi oud, that make the whole opera even more luminous in the opening, as well as deeper and darker in the closing.
Never suffocating, as it is well balanced and finely measured, this gem has moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. Perfect in all seasons, it wonderfully radiates in hot climates.
