Guiding Water The Harmonist 2016

I bought a Harmonist sample set from Dillards with the Yin and Yang fragrances and this is the first one I tried, and what an interesting one at that! When I first sprayed it on I smelled fresh aquatic notes before I went to sniff my wrist and those were quite nice. At closer sniff the pepper is the dominant note, turning this into a fresh papery scent with tang from the lily. I like the way pepper smells like paper on me but in this I feel like it they added the tiniest iota too much and it could've been blended just slightly better but this is definitely very nice. This reminded me somewhat of Myth. I'm excited to smell the rest of my samples!

I generally don't gravitate towards floral fragrances. They tend to be too heavy for my nose; too cloying, too overwhelming.

That being said, I absolutely love this fragrance!! It is a heady floral that somehow still has a airy/watery feel to it.

At first spray, you get a delightfully crisp mix of watermelon, cyclamen, and watery notes with ozonic accord. It is fresh and airy and aquatic. Within ten minutes, the (not indolic) jasmine, lotus, and lys enter the scene, and the florals really start to bloom. Light musk and pepper dance in the background, adding depth and a touch of spice to balance the whole blend out.

This one is stunning. And it last FOREVER. I have both the EDP and the Parfum. Both have the sillage and longevity of the gods. Seriously - the lasting power on BOTH of these is no joke.

Both have an aquatic feel to them. However, they are very different fragrances.

The EDP has a lighter, more airy feel. The ozonic notes and watermelon pop a lot more in the EDP. Its aquatic elements remind me of the refreshing lightness of a mist. This one is definitely more of an everyday scent.

The Parfum's aquatic element feels more like the heavier wetness of a still pond. It is the concentrated version and is much heavier on the heady notes of lotus and lily. It still retains the watery feel, however it is much less airy and bright than the EDP. I save this one for hot summer nights out. The Parfum is a special occasion fragrance, not a daily wear.

Guiding Water (both the EDP and the Parfum) has found a permanent spot in my spring/summer rotation. It envokes the vision of a naiad sunning herself on the shores of a still, lotus-filled lake shrouded in mist.

This fresh aquatic scent has slight fruity floral undertones but is light and airy. Like smelling water Lilly’s at the botanical park. It is great in the warmer weather and has great longevity lasting 14 hrs on skin and several days on hair/clothes. It’s unisex but leans a bit femme. It’s a 9/10 and a safe blind buy. Expensive but worth every penny.

I think this perfume is ok, not great.

It’s fresh, fruity, aquatic, with an incredibly beautiful flask. But the perfume itself lacks complexity. It’s nothing special on my skin, and in fact reminds me of much less expensive perfumes, such as Minajesty. They’re not the same, don’t misread that. They smell of the same synthetic quality.

I had really high hopes for this one, and unfortunately I’m now covered in the scent after my shower, which means I must tolerate it all day or get wet again.
