This fragrance is definitely my favorite from the repertoire of The Merchant of Venice. It starts off charmingly gourmand. You can smell the saffron and the sweetness of the praline, the cinnamon rounds off the whole thing rather subliminally. The combination of frankincense, myrrh and the sweetness of vanilla creates a very well-balanced sweetness with a spicy oriental flair. In any case, it is very complex, but I find that the woody components tend to play in the background here. Anyone expecting a strikingly perceptible classic oud note will not get their money's worth. In my opinion, the development here goes from a clear gourmand in the opening to an oriental one. In the drydown, a dominant sweetness remains that is still slightly spicy with an oriental touch.
