Beautiful synth-tea-floral
This scent is a lovely synthetic scent. Opening sweet, probably the watermelon and green notes moving into a bit sharper tea type scent. It shares similarity to Tommy Girl or Pleasures , but with a bit of the scent Snow by Demeter.
The outer “box” packaging is extremely minimal - a clear plastic cellophane bag . I had to prove to my cat that it was Not in fact a bag of cat treatos! He was not impressed.

...like a small quiet smile, like a light silk scarf...
The fragrances of Masaki Matsushima were among the first I began to explore in the world of niche perfumes after I stumbled upon them at "Aus Liebe zum Duft" - although it can be aptly debated whether the scents of a fashion designer, which Matsushima is, can be considered niche or not.
To me, as someone who had previously been more experienced in the mainstream, Matsushima's creations felt familiar and accessible; they welcomed me and made no demands, causing no irritation and giving me nothing to complain about.
This was pleasant and friendly, polite like most of the Japanese people I had encountered before - and yet also a bit bloodless, it seemed to me, compared to the loud, colorful fireworks I knew from various corners of the perfume shelf.
While I was quite familiar with "CK One," its light, fresh, not overly expressive performance did not necessarily belong to the fragrance directions I preferred, especially since "clean," "wellness," or "fresh laundry scents" were still unfamiliar to me at that time.
That would only change thoroughly later.

"mat;" as the first fragrance from Masaki Matsushima was also the first one I became acquainted with.
And I was - I confess - deeply impressed by the bottle, which was so simple yet so different, so functional, reduced, and futuristic, that I was almost worried I wouldn't be cool enough for the scent contained within.
Now, "cool" is not necessarily an attribute I consider overly desirable for myself, but it should at least match a bit with the fragrance and me.
However, I needn't have worried, because...

...from the very first moment, "mat;" is a friendly companion on my skin, neither cool nor strict nor arrogant.
Light and airy, "mat;" leads me step by step through a Japanese garden, where no one is around except for me, where finely raked gravel crunches underfoot and the air carries the scent of bright, dark green, still rain-soaked stone, and water lilies.
Very pure, very quiet, yet not at all bitter, not serious, "mat;" is by my side like a small quiet smile, like a light silk scarf, a bowl of small flowers beside a teapot.
It is impossible not to feel comfortable with "mat;" - in the best sense unobtrusive, the fragrance reliably accompanies me throughout the day despite its subtlety, without ever pushing forward, puffing up, or simply being annoying.
That can be too little on some days, in some places, certainly, it can evoke thoughts of shower gel, without a doubt.
But when the day and "mat;" are my friends, then nothing more is needed...

a clear head ...
... after a restless night.

My husband had nasty back pain and tossed and turned in bed like a propeller, which made me sway too - like on the high seas.
Today my head is buzzing - and I also have to make sure not to "burden" my ailing spouse with an overwhelming scent.

I can always score points with him using clear, Asian fragrances.
Good thing a dear friend sent me a sample, as this is the scent of choice.
A transparent, tidy fragrance that sorts thoughts and gently caresses the senses.

Bamboo appears softly green - enveloped by cool, transparent watermelon.
Soft and mild, invigorating like a rain shower.
The tea note creates calm - refreshed by mint.
The rose cautiously adds a citrusy touch, and also has a relaxing effect.
The crystal musk seems light and bright - emphasizing the fragrance's ease.

A scent that embodies the Buddhist concept of "letting go" - and I feel relieved.

Like a walk in the summer rain in Japanese
Mind you, before Fukushima.

I received this fragrance as a gift; I would never have thought of buying a scent from M.M. for myself.
I have tested a few, they smell pleasant, but for my taste, they are too clean, refined, and light.
I feel this way about all the fragrances from Japanese perfumers so far.

Mat; immediately smells of a delicate watermelon, for me a "little elusive" scent, so light and quiet and, yes, maritime. There’s also a tiny bit of mint, probably Japanese, and a hint of a tea rose, light and fine.

I immediately think, I know this scent.

Yes, it could be the younger sister or the second-born twin of "Like a walk in the summer rain" by Essence.
Checked - and indeed, with this one too, it’s the watermelon that is first noticeable.
The Essence scent is a bit more sparkling, probably due to the aldehydes, lasts longer, is a bit more intense, and the musk is also a bit more pronounced.
Maybe the European version...
Mat; is a quite pleasant fine-clean scent, I will probably use it as a
room fragrance, just like the Essence scent.
The laundry simply smells "clean" wonderfully after spraying.

As a perfume, it doesn’t suit me, too bright and greenish-white for me.

Fruity, Fresh, Delicious
Mat; was my first attempt to sniff into the world of Masakï Matshushïma fragrances and it was a hit.

I love clear, clean scents; fruits are welcome, but no overripe, headache-inducing, cloying notes, as I quickly want to get rid of that stuff.

Mat; is clean, clear, bright, airy, transparent, like a breath of iced fruits that surround the wearer.
It could be a refreshing cocktail, not a heavy, creamy cocktail, more like a non-alcoholic, veeeery delicious mix of the aforementioned fruits.

The scent doesn’t undergo any significant change on me; it lasts at least 6 hours, even in higher temperatures.

Mat; is definitely a strong contender for the hopefully soon-coming summer.

Clean scent with melony aquatic notes. It doesn't impose itself, but it doesn't touch me either.
Very "2000s." Clean urban chic, quite synthetic.

Herb freshness with an old closet smell.
Laundry detergent vibes are also present.
Synthetic and scratchy.
Somehow a strange scent.

Bright, light, clear, clean - like an art world. Blooms + fruits softened by a veil of mist. Minimalistic + synthetic freshness.

Fresh freshness with bright musk. The listed notes just float through the image. Close to the skin is hardly an expression..

Refreshing blend of fruit, flowers, and greens with a hint of aquatic. Pleasantly understated, yet it doesn't stand out.

A game of hide and seek. The scent completely eludes my nose, I think I catch a whiff of its fresh bitterness, then suddenly it’s gone again.

Unlike most Masakis, it's not fruity. Clear, minimalist, and pure - for me, the most beautiful Masaki.
