Candied Berries and Creamy Florals

Out of all the Princess flankers released so far, Princess Night would have to be my favourite. It's sweet and fruity without making me nauseous. It has also been composed relatively well.

I'm not a huge fan of the bottle design. The heavily glittered bottle only reminds me of a foot exfoliator, and is rough to the touch. The juice inside is much more attractive. I would agree that this fragrance has enough depth to be worn as a night-time scent.

Princess Night opens with luscious raspberry, candied red berries and creamy florals. It's a surprisingly warm scent with a hint of maturity. Despite the berry top notes, this flanker isn't necessarily what I'd call a fruity fragrance. Let's put it this way, it is nothing like Preppy Princess or Glam Princess.

The vanilla accord in the heart and drydown tends to ground the composition. This results in a smooth, sensual and delicious scent. It seems appropriate for almost any age, with the woodsy drydown making Princess Night the least juvenile from the Princess range.

I find Princess Night to be an easy crowd pleaser. I'm actually hoping that this fragrance will not be a short-lived limited edition. It may not be a particularly outstanding fragrance, but it is extremely likable. I think it has every chance of becoming just as popular as the original Princess.

The longevity is better than average, and the projection certainly impressed me. I would recommend Princess Night for wear during the cooler weather, or whilst hitting the town, as the name implies.

the Coal Princess

I am a child of the coal region - and whenever fate swept me away from here, I longed - "Bochum I come from you, Bochum I cling to you" - to return to the Pott.

When I laid eyes on the beautiful Princess Night bottle today, I had to smile, as it reminded me of a piece of coal - the "gold" of our region.

I have always been fascinated by the shiny pieces of coal - my mother found me after a long search sitting on a mountain of coal in the basement - black as a "miner".
According to her, I could hardly be separated from my black-glittering throne, and she laughed as she told my father about the "Coal Princess" who did not want to deny her origins.
Generations of hardworking miners are indeed in the genes!

Of course, this episode came to mind when I saw Princess Night.

The raspberry and wild berries are soft, fruity, and delicious - without any disturbing acidity.
The jasmine is bright and elegant - the rose dark and noble.
The woods warm the pleasant scent from within - like the embers of coal warm the fire.
Vanilla, dusted with sugar, makes Night sweet - but not cloyingly sweet.

A fragrance that can be worn well in the evening due to its velvetiness and that hugs the skin softly.

But this princess has nothing affected about her; she is rather a bit daring and hearty - a "Coal Princess," indeed.

The Kiss of Delicate Orange

After not wearing this fragrance for a while, I was surprised myself at how good it smells and how long it lasts. I would describe it as a light scent, more like a whisper. Not intrusive, yet still easily noticeable to those around. It is delicately sweet, but not cloyingly sweet; I catch a gentle orange breeze when I move, slightly enhanced by the vanilla. Very feminine, yet not overly so. Mysteriously enchanting without imposing itself on others. It lasted a whole night on my neck and arms and was still noticeable early in the morning. In my opinion, it distances itself significantly from mid-range perfumes, as you can tell from the first whiff that, thanks to the delicate kiss of the orange, it must be a high-quality product.

Carnival Princess

On one hand, I thought during today's test of this Vera Wang fragrance that it smells typically like Vie est belle and thousands of other carnival-sweet scents from the "ladies'" section. The quotation marks are there because these candied little fruits hardly ever have anything ladylike about them for me. Exceptions confirm the rule. On the other hand, I also realized once again that while I don't like the scent on myself, I undoubtedly find it appealing on girls. One just has to lower their expectations for a complex fragrance star, prepare for concentrated sugar power, and imagine it on young urban groupies, perhaps while partying.

The scent is very fruity and at the same time sugary sweet. It reminded me of candied fruit, in this case berries. Normally not my thing to eat, but kids love it, as we know. Only the watermelon brings in a bit of watery juiciness, a welcome change in the sticky start. This defining sugar note runs through the entire fragrance, but in the second part, which is floral, it becomes more balanced and calmer. Always nicer, without a doubt. Especially the vanilla orange blossom creates for me a finale famoso and furioso and could be from Mr. Kurkdjian himself. And a start that is decent plus this finale makes for me a surprisingly strong rating.

Bottle: a bit kitschy, but still sweet for women.
Sillage: quite strong on me.
Longevity: the beautiful final sprint lasts long. Overall 8 hours.

A dark heart for partying and just having fun. Fruity, flirty, festive!

Invitation to the Ball

~ Inspiration ~
I like to sniff the perfumes from Vera Wang - that's how I came across "Princess Night" and received a sample for testing from Galina86 in a swap.

~ Bottle ~
The black glitter bottle in heart shape is a real eye-catcher! The closure is a silver crown - it fits perfectly into the Princess line.

~ Scent ~
Upon spraying, I immediately notice the wild, tangy berries. Jasmine and a handful of orange blossoms form a warm, floral heart (watermelon remains completely hidden from me). The base gently and sensually concludes with a spoonful of sugar, creamy vanilla, and woods.

~ Longevity ~
On my skin, it lasts about 4-5 hours (not much longer on clothing and hair). Two sprays are enough for me; otherwise, it feels too artificial, overloaded, and cloying.

~ Occasion ~
It fits well into the mild days and evenings of spring and autumn. I would also wear it to the office - however, rather on cooler days and in moderation.

~ Conclusion ~
While I do like the combination of jasmine and vanilla quite a bit, unfortunately, a synthetic, piercing undertone develops (on me).

It aligns with the direction of the various "Juicys" from Juicy Couture.
