No Kiss of Coconut
Coconut has long been one of my favorites. It started with coconut body lotion, deodorant, and shower gel. Freshly applied and dressed, with that sweet and tropical scent constantly in my nose, simply dreamy.
My first fragrance with coconut was Miami Glow by Jennifer Lopez, which unfortunately can only be found online now. Overall, it’s a fine scent. Tropical, fruity, and thankfully not synthetic, but there must be more to it.
Thanks to the lovely Tivellon, I was able to enjoy a sample of Virgin Island Water. My expectations were immediately exceeded. This coconut note is incredibly natural, creamy, not too sweet, simply perfect.
Enough of the long preamble. I think it can be helpful to share my previous impressions regarding coconut in comparison to this one.

Woelfin's comment made me very curious, so I had to test this fragrance immediately. You can get it very cheaply, and often inexpensive doesn’t necessarily mean bad.
Today I was able to test it, and unfortunately, I am very disappointed. At first, it smells deliciously of coconut, a hint of almond, and subtly of vanilla. Quite quickly, the scent drifts into an unpleasant, synthetic, and nauseating direction. Maybe you know the coconut deodorant from Balea. It smells just like that here, but quite extreme, as if you spray into the small cap of the deodorant and immediately take a good whiff of it. That immediately stirs a queasy feeling in my stomach; nice scents smell different. I hoped that the nut would still make a turn for the better, but it crashes into a pyramid of lighter gas. I’m sorry, but that’s how the scent develops on me. A sticky, gooey, and synthetic sweet chemical cloud. When you smell your wrist again after about an hour, it involuntarily pulls at my teeth; I have never smelled anything so artificial.
At least the longevity is good and the sillage is strong. The bottle is simple, fits well in the hand, and the spray head distributes the spray well.

Caribbean Coconut has unfortunately missed the mark for me. I don’t feel transported to an exotic holiday paradise, nor is the coconut note remotely enjoyable. Sure, at that price, you can't expect a masterpiece, but at least a scent that exudes a bit of tropical flair without nausea. So no cocktail umbrella for Vincenzo Barony.

If I have offended lovers of this fragrance, I would like to apologize.

"For a parrot, it smells good"
said my 5-year-old daughter after she smelled the perfume and took a closer look at the packaging ;-)

(They had one with a parrot on it)

My mom thinks it's great and is happy to have it for that reason, she sprayed it on and immediately said, "Oh, Bounty to spray! That's wonderful, it matches my shower gel."
So she smells a nice coconut note with a bit of chocolate in the background.
It lasts on my mom for about 4-5 hours, it's still noticeable on her shirt, sprayed on yesterday. ;-)

I was also able to smell it a bit and think more of Pina Colada, I find it quite nice but I'm not really into coconut scents, smelling it is very pleasant but smelling like that for a longer time? Hhhmm, I'm not so sure...
I only smell the coconut, unfortunately, it doesn't change much.

My mom is definitely thrilled, so everything is great ;-)

Now I have to find the CD with the song "The monkeys race through the forest (Where is the coconut)," the girls really want to hear it now! ;-)

So that's really wonderful, isn't it? Everyone immediately associates something different with the scent ;-)
I think I will drink Pina Colada this weekend... ;-)

Gourmand with Vacation Vibes
I enjoy using Carribbean Coconut for layering, but even on its own, the scent is a true delight. Today, it's pouring rain in NRW, summer, sunshine.....we had really nice warm sunny weather for quite a while. Now the "German summer" is back, gray, dreary, wet, cool......And that was too much of the depressing weather mood for me. So today I took CC out of the cupboard and am wearing it pure. It smells gourmand, it's like a vacation, letting the soul unwind, dreaming of summer, sun, and blue-green sea.....My mood noticeably lifts with CC, as the scent of almonds, vanilla, and coconut creates an atmosphere of enjoyment around me. The fragrance is intense, long-lasting, it stays on my skin for about 6 to 7 hours, and in my hair and clothes, it's detectable until the next day. CC should be used sparingly; otherwise, it feels too much for me. A lovely gourmand, great for layering, and on days like today, it’s pure pleasure worn alone.

Care for a Piña Colada?
Yes, very much so.

Today I had the chance to visit the Commissary, a store for soldiers stationed in Germany, where they can buy American products at dollar prices. Oh my God, I was blown away.
There, I bought a shower gel called Caribbean Coconut. Unfortunately, our summer is taking its time, and a vacation in the Caribbean is not on the cards. So, a fine, tropical coconut scent came just in time.

One can also conjure up Caribbean summer and coconut feelings in other ways. While showering, I remembered this fragrance that has been lurking in the darkest corner of my closet for a long time.
Unjustly, I must admit, and I feel a bit ashamed again.

Caribbean Coconut lets the sun in. I am on a white sandy beach, under huge palm trees, sipping a Piña Colada decadently and enjoyably - "Mhhhm, delicious, really." :-)
The scent develops warm and sweet on my skin. I could have sworn today that there are fruits hidden in the fragrance pyramid. But apparently, that’s not the case. I can smell pineapple, which, in my opinion, gives this perfume, besides the coconut, the Caribbean touch.
A really nice and simple composition. Also with the soft almond, which smells rather roasted and gives the scent its gourmand note. It’s like a Piña Colada with a slice of pineapple and a caramelized sugar rim on the glass.

For me, this was a lovely discovery today that warmed me on this cold, windy evening. Caribbean Coconut is a very nice, cozy scent. Always perfect for days like this, when a bit of sun and warmth is missing.

The longevity is good at about 10 hours, and the sillage is strong. A bit less Caribbean would be "more" for the day. However, a bit more Caribbean was just right for me today.
Addition: In June 2014, I tested the current version of the fragrance. It is strongly fruity, bright, and less deep and expressive than my version. The coconut hardly comes through, and the vanilla is different. Even in this price segment, reformulations are likely being made. I wouldn’t have bought it like that. I purchased my bottle in 2005.

Dear Vincenzo!
Do you remember me?
Do you remember that incredibly hot summer in the Caribbean when we rolled around in the warm, white sand?
We sipped cocktails with cheesy little umbrellas from hollowed-out coconuts.
We only had eyes for each other.
We drove around in that ancient convertible, where that music cassette was stuck.
Do you remember? The cassette had oldies, but we only ever listened to that one song... "Dream a little dream of me," Ella Fitzgerald.

Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me

Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll

It's really very intense! Coconut, vanilla & banana compressed. I always use it in the fragrance lamp in winter, it fits perfectly :)

For everyone looking for coconut!
Yes, it’s synthetic, yes, it lacks depth, but pure coconut! Bought it for the umpteenth time. It’s cheap anyway.

Scent of paraffin-based hair gel from the African head shop. Despite the coconut and fine almond milk, it unfortunately reminds me of paraffin now.
