Simple opening + interesting evolution
Like other Maison Violet scents, Pourpre d'Automne gives out a gentle and elegant impression. Usually I enjoy the softness of this impression (many today’s popular scents are too strong and intrusive for my liking), but somehow it doesn’t work too well for Pourpre d'Automne.
Pourpre d'Automne opens like a summer peach that is just picked off of the tree and still has few leaves attached to it; it is fruity, sweet and ready for a bite. Gradually, it becomes more rosy and floral. Perhaps because all dominant notes (peach and rose) lean toward the soft side, Mainson Violet’s gentle and elegant vibe makes the scent feel a little too linear or even too simple (softness through and through). Just when I was a little disappointed, an interesting change took place; the scent transformed from refreshing sweet into a powdery green.
Overall, an interesting and enjoyable scent, but I wish that it had a more complex (maybe lively) opening.
