A magical orange grove
Red oranges dominate the opening but are seasoned with Cinnamon, Ginger and Cardamom in a bitter-sweet accord that immerses us in elegance and class. Very interesting how the floral accord in the middle begins shortly after to accentuate the sweetness and structure an entire raw material of great quality. A citrus that is not acidic and vibrant but sensual and smooth – like a sublime love affair.
The accord orchestra is perfectly accompanied by a base featuring natural vanilla (not vanillin) that accentuates emotions and transforms it into a romantic fragrance for romantics. Base that is a very refined composition of balsamic-sweet tones, warm velvety tones of resin and wood. However, the fantastic persistence of the trio blood orange, wild orange and bitter orange throughout the development always hovers around us and subtly touches us like a seductive melody in our deep olfactory memory. As if I laid my head on the lap of a beautiful woman under a magical orange grove where Alice has not yet passed. All in perfect harmony.

Orange Masterpiece
I start by saying that I am not a fan of citrus fragrances, I prefer other notes or other olfactory families, but here we are faced with a work of olfactory art.
The opening is the most natural and beautiful hint of orange my nose has ever smelt. Peel flesh and juice all together are mind-blowing.
As time goes by, the orange relaxes and clean white flowers that are never aggressive come to the rescue and blend wonderfully with the opening.
Finally the poem ends with an amber mix where my beloved Siam dominates and makes everything creamy resinous and enveloping.
Here Annette has outdone herself. Crazy fragrance and composition.

An Orange Dream
I tested this beautiful fragrance a few days ago and it hasn't left my mind since. Sprayed on in the afternoon to write a statement late in the evening, I still had some of it the next morning. It is incredibly long-lasting.
I'm not really a fan of fruit bombs; I have a few of my over 30 fragrances (over 30-degree fragrances).
Because when the thermometer goes above 30, I also need something fresh and fruity.
My over 30s are: Guerlain Limon Verde, Guerlain D' Orange Verte, and Voyage d' Hermes.
I was happy with those three.
But Vermilion Orange is different. An orange scent that stays orangey.
A year-round fragrance, slightly spicy, slightly smoky, and just a little sweet.
I've already taken a peek; it's quite expensive. Actually not really in my price range anymore,
but last year I spent little money due to Corona,
so this should be an exception.
And: My boyfriend thinks it's super great!! Well, if that's not a reason, grin!!
Thank you, dear Knopfnase, for this wonderful sample.

By the Fireplace is a Little Spot

Bells ringing from afar
Stars shining above us
No one around
Just the two of us
Wandering through the white winter forest
Snow and ice crackle underfoot
Because we only whisper now
We feel just like Gretel and Hans
Wandering through the white winter forest
Softly, softly white flakes fall
And a deer steps out of the woods
Brown eyes look quite startled
If the forest is too cold for you, come home with me
By the fireplace is a little spot
That belongs to our kitty

Before you get all sentimental, let me tell you a pre-Christmas story instead. Besides, the snow is gone again, but let’s imagine it were still here and we had a real winter with snow, ice, and frost from December 1 to February 28.
Softly, softly white flakes fall and it’s not the deer that steps out of the woods startled, but Dad, who has illegally chopped down a pine tree.
Trailing behind is Newfoundland dog Pussy, who keeps ambushing the tree, leaving only about 20 needles on it. And yet, it will still be set up. As a reminder of the exploitation of nature. From today, Advent, meaning arrival, takes on a whole new significance.
Dad stomps the snow off his boots. In the living room, the whole family and their offspring are gathered by the fireplace. The fire crackles and the sugar cone on the sugar tongs over the Feuerzangenbowle crackles and drips.
Grandpa is peeling thick oranges, many thick oranges. He throws the peels into the punch and crows (slightly tipsy): “Finally some blood oranges again....” He has taken out his dentures so the zest doesn’t sneak behind his gums. Warm-spicy scents rise from the table. Mom has once again baked her special Christmas stollen. Many, many spices waft through the room. Aunt Edith is knitting green scarves from alpaca wool for everyone, a green hint on the side. The wood in the fireplace crackles; it was still damp and a bit resinous. Under the punch, a small burner with incense is lit. The children are stuffing themselves with vanilla crescents.
Cousin Genoveva arrives with her 25th fiancé. At 39, she is now in her 3rd puberty. She had crafted a Christmas tree garland from cinnamon sticks. At least the scruffy thing smelled spicy now.
The kitty, of course, lay by the fireplace, and Pussy was running around with Santa Claus, who had slipped down the banister. An unequal fight. 80 kg of Newfoundland against a 1.50 m tall Santa filled with cotton. Every year again, the Christ Child comes down. Softly, softly white flakes fall.....

Conclusion: Although I am not a fruit lover, I say CHAPEAU Mrs. Neuffer. A full-bodied, spicy-warm orange scent with astonishing longevity. However, I see the Vermilion Orange more in the cold season.

Neuffer and Rachmaninoff
With her unique signature, Ms. Neuffer has created a novelty among fragrances - dedicated to citrus notes - because I have not encountered such a creation under the Hesperid sky, where citrus fruits of the most diverse provenance virtuously perform in the role of soloists in a well-tempered orchestral interplay.

The market seems to be saturated, especially regarding the many Hesperid soliflore fragrances and the diverse incorporation of citrus essences in the top notes. Therefore, this fragrance initially did not spark my particular interest, as oranges seem best suited to me freshly squeezed from the fridge in the morning.

Additionally, I got to know and appreciate Enrico Buccella's fragrances last year, which are marketed under the names Sigilli and Cerchi Nell'acqua, where several citrus fragrances immediately caught my eye - or better said, my nose - and had to move in with me.

Hesperia is a fresh, typical lemon scent with orange blossoms and woods, E*5 is a fragrance where neroli, petitgrain, and citrus oil/bergamot create a wonderful symbiosis, and LÈxotique, which for me delivers a great performance with its bitter orange/mandarin/ambroxan - all of which I perceive as very long-lasting and high-quality. Therefore, my need for citrus freshness seemed covered for several years.

However, I would classify Enrico Buccella's creations, regarding their development on the skin, primarily in the group of monochromatic fragrances.
Monochromatic here should not be understood as disrespectful or monotonous; rather, they lack the citrus virtuoso in the orchestral performance, which seems to be the strength and uniqueness of Vermilion Orange.

The different orange essences have been incorporated here by the perfumer as a very long-lasting and slightly bitter-fruity odor, changing soloistically, and musically translated, show parallels or have direct similarities with the challenging octave runs of a pianist that have made the 2nd and 3rd movements of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto so famous.

Rachmaninoff, as a representative of high romanticism, transcended traditional harmony in his works and prioritized individual emotional emphasis, adding elaborate acoustic nuances to enable an even more overwhelming impression in new harmonies.

The pianist must not only bring solid keyboard virtuosity but also his entire body weight to enable sound colors and new sound possibilities.
Vermilion Orange - in its hyper-associative melodic olfactory opulence from the very beginning - shows us just this overwhelming impression as it was aspired to in romanticism. The fragrance is full of inner strength in its virtuosity and full of harmonic effects in its progression and new in its instrumentation.

The top note is characterized by a refreshing liveliness with bittersweet peaks - pepper and ginger notes seem to contribute here, but at the same time, warmth and security are inherent to the fragrance from the very beginning, which is likely introduced by cinnamon and transitions into the floral heart of the progression.

The trio of blood orange, wild orange, and bitter orange does not run out of steam until the end, and for me, it is a mystery how, despite their known volatility, one manages to incorporate citrus essences so long and so present in a fragrance without ever getting an excess of fruity elements.

Without experiencing it, it is difficult to describe its progression based on the ingredients, as this artwork is so intertwined and full of olfactory nuances and at the same time so classical in its opulent clarity - viewed from above - and is always surprising in that the bitter orange takes the scepter in hand and steps into the foreground, despite the omnipresent harmonically occurring superstructure that extends from the heart note long into the base and is characterized by the balsamic-sweet, velvety warm resin and wood tones that appear glissando-like, like a group of finely tuned violinists.

Vermilion Orange has a high recognizability, and I find it nice that this fragrance does not possess a beeswax component this time, as this further emphasizes its independence.

Vermilion Orange also cannot be denied a certain sensuality; here too, my associations align with Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto Opus 18 C minor, as passages from the 2nd and 3rd movements have also made their way into film music and were used in the 1930s film "Grand Hotel" with Greta Garbo, or Marilyn Monroe was seduced by Rachmaninoff's piano concerto in "The Seven Year Itch" in 1955.
