A beast (but nor for the Beauty)
This is the fragrance the Beast (from Madame de Villeneuve’s Beauty and the Beast) would have worn in Belle’s presence.
The citrus notes stand tall, grand and bright, yet the Beast’s wild nature—the smoky, almost sulfurous scent—cannot be concealed.
Not for lack of trying: every flower is here—jasmine, geranium, angelica…
All except the rose, absent as if to recall the father’s fatal mistake: plucking that flower from his host’s garden, provoking his wrath.
The animalic side (oud, no doubt) is tempered by musk, yet even that feels untamed.
And still, the spell works. Courtesy, kindness, compassion, tenderness seep through the monster’s rough exterior.
First respect, then fondness, and at last, love.
Finally, the prince emerges: a noble, splendid aura of cedar, sandalwood, incense, and vetiver.
A marriage of redemption. Perhaps.
