The most extraordinary wedding of the year comes from Down Under
Greetings together :)
Welcome to my first review in this still young year 2025. Sit down and make yourselves comfortable.
For today's fragrance review, I've chosen a brand that will probably leave most people scratching their heads - after all, Anomalous was only launched in October last year, so it's practically new. Perhaps it's also new, as we're dealing with an Australian brand here, i.e. with regions that are perhaps not so familiar in our latitudes in terms of fragrances, at least not to me.
Without going into too much detail, what do we have here? If you take a look at the pyramid at hand, I think it quickly becomes clear that this could be a pretty wild ride and oh boy! this is going to be a fever dream! :D
Let's start small. I think the start of the fragrance is quite interesting, like sipping through the bar, these wedding guests definitely don't seem to be foodies!
But it is quite wine-oriented, the rest is, in my opinion, more of an accessory. But it has to be said that this is actually intentional, because the good Mr. Creator of the fragrance (a great, warm guy, by the way, with whom you can talk about fragrances for hours, even if he is sometimes a bit crazy, but makes him likeable for me :D), after the first batch of the fragrance was through and the first feedback was there actually screwed up the wine note again. In the backup, there is a slightly malty-caramel note, with dried fruit notes serving as a carpet pad.
What follows is the part of the fragrance that still leaves me somewhat perplexed, even today, after what feels like 10 tests, as to whether I like the fragrance or not. The fragrance gradually becomes heavier, really heavy and extremely dense, I say fever dream xD The top notes are literally smashed aside, everything is filled with clear fruit isolates, especially plum, which is only boosted by Prunella and Prunol, held high, triumphant, as if it were the new king.
Everything else literally presses against it, floridity first in a lively round dance, then centrifuging as if we were in astronaut training. Everything orbits this damned plum as if it were the new fixed star. Reach for the stars they seem so close, but are so far away! Lightweight synthetic threads hold everything together so that things don't get completely out of hand. David vs. Goliath Gong 2nd round!
all the fruit, flowers forced to orbit. Like at a wedding party, the later the evening, the more exuberant the guests. Everything becomes blurred, exuberant, cheerful, squeaky, almost exhausting, you just want to lie in a corner.
after this absolute vortex of everything that party life has to offer, the base slowly fights its way up and oh how it fights! To the point of blood! It takes quite a while for this whole fused block to dissolve again, but the woody-amber notes that finally appear bring some calm...finally!
Oh man, that was a party! Where do we end up now? The fragrance here definitely scores in terms of uniqueness, I couldn't think of anything comparable, at least spontaneously, definitely another absolute lover's fragrance. You should have a certain soft spot for boozy stuff (I'll be in the background :D).
As I said earlier, I'm actually at a bit of a loss for a final rating for the first time. I'll give it a 7 overall.
Anomalous and Zackaria have really created something extraordinary with their first collection. The fragrance doesn't really want to open up to me, but I'm still curious to see what this brand will bring in the next few months/years :)
