There's a new badboy in town
Ayat Parfums has really picked up speed in recent months. Not only here on Parfumo, but also on YouTube, the fragrances are slowly getting the attention they deserve. I started my fragrance journey with Ayat with 2 fragrances that I would rate more as crowd pleasers and safe bets, as I dared to make a blind buy here: Black Shine and Desire. I'll say it in advance: Finally, another successful blind buy that you can't resist writing a few sentences about on Parfumo immediately after your first impression.
Both fragrances are considered alternatives to Sauvage Elixir, respectively a wild mixture of Ombre Nomade and Oud for Greatness. Today, however, I want to talk about Black Shine, the Sauvage doppelganger. Since I've already blown a few Sauvage Elixir twins through my nose, I feel qualified to pass judgment here. In a nutshell: if you're considering buying an alternative to Sauvage Elixir, leave Asad and Gaith on the shelf and go for this one. Period.
Packaging & bottle:
Yes, I know that for many people, including me, the presentation of such fragrances is more than secondary. But let me put it this way: Ayat raises the bar here. The packaging looks classy and high-quality - a small detail that is simply fun. The bottle? A real piece of gold! Heavy, high-quality and the metal cap sits firmly in place. You can even lift the bottle by the cap without having to worry about 100 ml of gold juice suddenly hitting the floor. In addition, Ayat has installed a pressure sprayer that distributes the fragrance generously and widely - no splashing, the juice really comes out. The others can take a leaf out of their book. Although the candidate Gaith from Khadlaj also has a pressurized sprayer. And before I forget: The bottle looks like it could easily be in the €100+ league. For the price (€30 for 100 ml), it's just absurdly good. You don't have to shove it into row 3 of your collection because it's such an eyesore.
Fragrance:
But now to the heart of the matter - the content. The juice. And like the bottle, it's gold. The first impression? Spicy, woody, masculine - Sauvage Elixir through and through. The composition of cinnamon, nutmeg and woody notes hits the nail on the head. At the same time, the slightly barbershop-like vibe that we already know from the classic Sauvage shines through. The whole thing comes across as a fragrance that says: "I'm here, and I mean business."
And yes, I'll say it openly: This is a FBoy fragrance. It sort of says: I'm him. Black Shine captures the elixir vibe soooo well, it really is world class.
Asad? Spicier, but somewhere too one-dimensional.
Gaith? Fresher and somehow bluer, but not quite as commanding.
Black Shine? Balanced, more mature, and above all: it stays much closer to the original.
Performance:
There's nothing to complain about here. Black Shine is a real monster in terms of durability and projection. Maybe not quite as blatant as the original, but hey, for the price it delivers a lot of bang and has more horsepower under the hood than Asad and Gaith, even if they weren't exactly hammers.
Conclusion:
For just €30 per 100 ml, you get the best Sauvage Elixir alternative on the market to date in my opinion. If you like power, quality and this irresistible mix of spices and wood, you can't go wrong here.
Value for money: 10/10 Ayat has really delivered here - a fragrance with a message.
Keep up the good work Ayat. That's what makes it fun!
Cheers
