The Australian perfume brand Chasing Scents was founded by Sandy Wong and her partner to realize their passion for tea and the associated scents and rituals in a perfume collection. The founders develop all the formulas themselves and produce the perfumes in small batches.
The PhD chemist was born in Sydney and was exposed to fragrances at an early age through her Hong Kong-born mother's perfume collection. During her PhD, she experimented with fragrances in her spare time and discovered the scientific principles of perfume making.
A characteristic feature of Chasing Scents is the use of genuine, homemade tea extracts. These are obtained through tinctures and Soxhlet extractions from dried flower buds and loose tea leaves over several cycles under controlled conditions in order to reproduce the tea aroma in the perfumes as authentically and concentrated as possible.
