Soft violet with crystal waters

Sitting does this juice absolute wonders. When it first arrived I did not enjoy it at all. Very disjointed and all over the place. Wet and generic aquatic melon with slight florals. I put the bottle back in the box and forgot about it for a few weeks. I will give it points for being very long lasting upon first spray. Usually I find fragrances need a couple of months oxidizing before they have better strength and longevity, but this one was full force from the get go.

Anyway, I was rearranging my collection and came across this and just figured I’d give it a second chance and it was completely different. Beautiful soft violet with crystal waters and what feels like a cozy iris. Smooth and clean. Fresh and vibrant. No melon note detected like last time. Overspraying can cause sort of a baby wipe dry down but otherwise it just has a clean warmth to it. Definitely not linear and it morphs over time as it goes from aquatic to floral to soft warmth, always staying clean.

I am impressed for such a cheapie and glad I gave it a second chance. As mentioned, great longevity with a moderate scent bubble.

A summer floral, nothing "Halloween" about it

The name is misleading, this is a summer aquatic floral fragrance, there is violet in the dry down. The opening smells almost like watermelon. It's cute, not offensive to my nose, very light and pleasant scent. Although, it is rather weak on my skin, and the sillage is not great. Somehow takes me back to the 00s, to my childhood. An oddly familiar scent. Not my style at all, but I don't hate it.

A Halloween Banana Carving

Hello you curious noses! Welcome to my latest review. Although it’s not yet October 31st, Halloween, I was able to test two Halloween fragrances, so I’m publishing this one a few days early and the second fragrance on Halloween.

You might know that Halloween is one of my favorite days. Due to the current Corona crisis, this year it’s a bit dampened in terms of costumes, parades, and Halloween parties, but I’m stuffing myself with sweets and watching scary things, like perfumes that can look terrifying if I should annoy them again… ha ha, no, of course I meant horror movies, although I’m 110% sure that you ladies can also be quite scary and frightening when annoyed, yes yes! :D

So, before I ramble on and end up saying something disastrous, let’s get to the fragrance description. And yes, regarding my title: carving bananas? Well, that might not be possible, but this Halloween fragrance does smell a bit like bananas at the beginning :)

The Fragrance:

The fragrance starts with a green note, which is probably the banana leaf as mentioned earlier. It smells quite nice and reminds me of unripe, green bananas or banana peels. Shortly after, the violets come in, giving the fragrance a sweet and slightly powdery note. In the background, the scent is slightly aquatic, contributing to the freshness of the fragrance. However, the scent also comes across as somewhat synthetic, which isn’t particularly bad, but some might not like it as much.
Now and then, the fragrance radiates a slightly fruity vibe, which is nice but also quite weak, so it soon becomes hardly noticeable. Instead, it remains with sweet and floral notes, but whether one can better smell magnolias or tuberoses, I can’t say for sure. I’ve been on Parfumo for over five years, but I still can’t distinguish floral notes very well; I must be crazy or something :D
Be that as it may, the fragrance becomes less fruity as it develops, but it also gets weaker, as the projection significantly diminishes (and it was never strong to begin with). For example, you can smell the vanilla in the base, but only if you sniff quite close to the skin; this note certainly doesn’t have its usual projection like in many other fragrances. Otherwise, there’s a slightly synthetic to slightly stuffy impression in the background, which I don’t really like anymore.

The Sillage and Longevity:

The sillage is weak; I think it will hardly be noticeable from a distance.
Also, the longevity is only a few hours, so after three to four hours, you can hardly perceive anything anymore.

The Bottle:

The bottle has a slightly bell-shaped (or dome-shaped) form and is filled with violet fragrance liquid. The bottom is thicker, and the name of the fragrance is engraved on it. The cap is round and silver. It’s not particularly spectacular, but still quite nicely designed. The one or two collector's bottles of this are, of course, much more beautifully crafted.

Conclusion:

So. That was Halloween, and the fragrance itself isn’t scary, neither in a negative sense nor thematically related to this holiday. But unfortunately, it’s not really good either, as it not only has very weak projection but also smells quite trivial. The beginning is still quite nice, but as I said, the fragrance quickly weakens, making it hard to smell the base notes properly. A second point of criticism would be the synthetic note that is continuously noticeable, and occasionally a slightly stuffy note arises, which I personally like the least. Therefore, I can’t really recommend the fragrance, not even for Halloween fans.

Otherwise, the fragrance is more of an all-rounder in terms of notes, suitable for daytime wear in all seasons. As I said, you don’t need to test this one; instead, take a look at the fragrance “Halloween Shot,” which turned out to be much better and which I will publish here just in time for Halloween in a few days, so you have something to read and can be distracted from your “Don Juan de Cat” fantasies :D

A Difficult Character

I have now reached the 5th or 6th test and to be honest, I still find it difficult to describe this fragrance. Right from the top of the pyramid, I have some issues; aside from not knowing what banana leaf smells like, I have been able to identify some components quite well without having looked at the pyramid beforehand, noticed some that are not listed at all, and from those that are listed, I couldn't identify some at all.

For example, the violet is clearly present from the very beginning, although in the top note it is more the violet leaf, I couldn't detect Petit Grain. Then in the heart note, the fragrance shifts to the violet flower, accompanied by a bit of lilac (not listed at all) and magnolia. I couldn't perceive anything like pepper or tuberose.

However, the violet flower is not the usual rather loud and bright one, but a muted, warmer note and almost a bit aquatic, somewhat like water lily. Unfortunately, the heart note is a tad too sweet for my personal taste, but it surely has its audience. I would have wished for a bit more fresh pepper in the heart to follow a fresher line.

The base notes are not individually recognizable for me, especially not incense. Halloween becomes slightly woody at the end, very lightly, but still retains the soft violet accent, although it is absolutely not a violet scent.

It lasts exceptionally long, although the sillage is not particularly strong. The fragrance is very close to the skin.

All in all - even when I consider the somewhat boring bottle - I cannot associate this fragrance with something like Halloween at all. It holds no surprises, but it is also not a horror scent - I would classify this little water as a kind of Eau de Cologne for spring and summer, due to its lightness and pleasant freshness. However, it is a bit too expensive for that.

Flower Monster - Costume or Terrible Truth?

Where today we once again tested a One Million look-alike with Wolfgang Joop, I specifically pulled out Halloween from my box of yet-to-be-tested fragrances, and this time the women's version. The men's counterpart hit exactly the same note. However, the women's original is a completely different story - bright, floral, artificially contrived!

Positive: bright, friendly, evolving, feminine, rare, wonderful JdP banana leaf like in Quasar, color fits perfectly, slightly ahead of its time, nice wood drydown.
Negative: name fits 0, annoying flower meadow without a counterbalance, too naive and one-dimensional, stubborn and single-tracked, loud at the wrong moments, worse than the men's version, shocks no one, a follower.

Bottle: reminds me of snow globe shaking balls.
Sillage: floral scents on men always stand out, and this one is no exception and not weak.
Longevity: one hardly trusts the flower parade to last 7 hours.

The beginning is far too sweet for me, floral, full of flower-I-Hate like lilies, freesias, water lilies, etc. Such things are no longer needed by women today. But in the late 90s, there were definitely worse things to buy.
