A-Pear-ently I Needed to Upgrade
UPDATE: I’m almost out of my 30 ml upgrade. I bought myself a 50 ml for Christmas
In full transparency, I sample A LOT of perfumes from various houses, ranging from niche and indie to designer and budget-based scents. For about every 30 2ml samples I try, I love *maybe* one enough to upgrade to something bigger than the 2ml sample. “It’s Just Spiced Pears” is one of those incredibly special scents I tried to talk myself out of buying but couldn’t. I haven’t fallen in love with a scent this quickly since I found African Roobios and Musk 01.
Cirrus, as a house, loves a chypre base, and this base feels deeply at home with IJSP. This reads as herbal, autumnal, kinda fruity, resinous, woody and memorable. The blend of warming spices and the pear hit my nose first. I then experience woody accords that give me depth. So beautiful and delicious.
I read a review on this, from this site, that aptly said this scent is reminiscent of fresh and spiced pear cider made from a vintage, wooden cider press. I wholeheartedly agree, but would humbly add that you can also smell chopped firewood and corn silk in the background. But maybe that’s my imagination running wild here, who knows.
Anticipate a slightly less than moderate projection, but longevity and projection will benefit from being sprayed on your outfit before leaving home. Dry down is less sweet but the well-rounded warming spices keep this inviting.
“It’s Just Spiced Pears” would wear beautifully on any gender: ideal on a flannel and on the neck. I think it’s a sweet unisex scent that would layer wonderfully with more wood-forward fragrances. A 30 ml to me has just been ordered.
