Reminds me of my wife

I had no idea what red champaca smelled like before trying this. I didn’t even know it was a flower! Based on what I’m getting here, I would describe it as a cross between jasmine and plumeria, two of my favorite florals (and my wife’s).

I might be biased because those notes remind me of my wife, but I love this. This is the strongest, most unapologetic floral in my collection, as someone who almost never wears florals. It gives me such strong scent memories. I want to wear this on our honeymoon!

Most Sensual Fragrance I've Ever Smelled

As the brand explains on their website, Sybarite is a person whose life is devoted to luxury and sensual pleasures. On the label there is a depiction of handcuffs surrounded by champaca flowers. That name and picture, is a perfect description for this scent. This is a rich hedonistic scent. I felt like I was writhing in a pile lush white flowers with a lover while wearing a fine dress of silk. Occasionally, we light new incense and feed each other sweet mandarins. The opening of heady florals and citrus felt juicy and delectible. The fragrance then eases into a sensual and cozy vanilla musk scent with the florals still lingering in the background.

I kept thinking of Blanche Bête by Liquides Imaginaires. The main difference between the two is that Blanche Bête is more milk and this is more floral. This is a vanilla fragrance for people who love vanilla, hate vanilla, want unique vanillas, really this fragrance is for any and everyone.

This fragrance has more lift than you would expect, its very aromatic and creates a decent scent bubble around you. This also lasted all day, over 7 hours on my skin. There are a couple of options for sizes and pricing starting at 5ml rollerball for $22, 10ml EDP atomizer for $30, and 30ml EDP atomizer for $65. I already have bought the full 30ml, its just too damn good.

Luxurious and Oplulent

A warm, heady, floral vanilla, although not any floral notes that I've smelled before, so it must be the red champaca. This is a beautiful sweet and juicy scent and I love it. This is coming from someone who doesn't gravitate towards citrus or sweet notes. The sandalwood and incensey notes ground it for me. This was a rare blind buy for me, and I'm smitten.

Thought I wouldn't like it, but then I did

When sampled it on blotters, my immediate reaction was that I didn't like it. Too sexy, too musky, and heavier florals and musks often give me headaches. But on skin, it's quite nice!

It wears a lot more naturally on skin on me and is more like a heady, lightly sexy vanilla musk with the sandalwood present. It just barely registers as floral on me, if that's the red champaca. The citrus keeps it just bright enough and is a necessary addition.

I keep coming back to smell the wrist I've sampled this on. Unexpectedly good, and a testament to why fragrances need to be worn on skin to get the full effect.

Smells like my late great-aunt

Welp, turns out my skin is a little picky when it comes to what florals it will tolerate. This is one of the first times I've ever understood what some reviewers mean when they say "this smells like an old lady." On my skin, the floral notes were waaaaaaaaay overstated, like sickly pervasive and sweet and cloying. I was super bummed because I had read so much about how sexy it was, how musky and how the vanilla notes really stood out (I am a vanilla girlie through and through). Literally all I can smell is the red champaca. I never smelled the sandalwood, vanilla or musk.

This is the only one out of 4 that I've tried from Cirrus that was a big miss for me, but luckily I work with a bunch of folks that are super into smelly good goods so it found a new home (with a much older woman, I might add, I think this scent is just super mature).
