The Point - Vibes

You wake up early to take a dip in the cool, calm ocean. You fully submerge yourself before resurfacing, wet strands of hair stuck to your face. Eventually, you make your way to shore, collapsing in the soft, hot sand. You lay like this for hours, letting the sun dry your body. You smell your sand dusted skin, breathing in it's intoxicating scent.

A very perplexing (yet still pleasant) oceanic fragrance

I'm not sure how to feel about this one! I do enjoy the fragrance, in fact I love the concept of it a lot and I love scents that are oceanic, fresh, or remind me of water in some form. I also love white flowers like jasmine, so combine that with the fantasy notes like porcelain, you'd think this fragrance would knock it out of the park for me. I can't say it has, but I don't dislike it or anything as previously mentioned. I'm just endlessly perplexed by it, not sure what to make of it...

When first putting it on my skin, my first thought was that this fragrance is surprisingly inoffensive. I think most Clue perfumes are to my nose, but this one is just nice- there is definitely a mild fresh, sort of subtle green and floral opening, you can definitely sense the jasmine. I suppose the green is the "tea" part of the jasmine tea note, although I felt like it was more freshly-picked jasmine. The sad part is that the jasmine disappeared quite quickly on my skin, and I had a hard time picking up anything else other than that mineralic and aquatic qualities. It's also kind of "sharp". The Point is also mildly salty and as I was sniffing it I got reminded of the Nosferatu perfume by Heretic Parfum- they're not that similar to be honest, but the ambergris is really present in both of them and further brings that mineralic and salty quality. My brother also told me I smelled like straight up MUSK, so make of that what you will.

For a second I also felt like the perfume felt more reminiscent of a pool than it did an ocean, but that statement proved to fail as it developed. It's definitely an ocean. As for the crushed porcelain and honey-soaked patchouli, or even the sand, I can't say that I've been able to detect them. I even closed my eyes and tried to imagine the crushed porcelain & I think I managed to do so; there's a certain dusty and cold smell in the beginning, and I suppose the mineralic note also backs up the concept of "crushed porcelain". But patchouli, honey and sand? Eh...

Overall I will say that I like it, but I have to try it more in the future to really form a proper opinion and single out the notes better. Not sure if I'd buy a full bottle, but I do keep smelling my wrist in positive confusion which makes me want to own the full thing even more. Captivating!

charming cuppa

Opens with fresh-sliced lemon, then fragrant jasmine, and finally a saltwater breeze. A sharp tea note forms the heart. And something else, almost a church-y incense. The Point has an aged, heirloom quality to it. Like it’s been unearthed from a satin-lined hatbox, that tea note given decades to steep. I like even more once it's matured on my skin, where it sepia-tones into an iced tea balm. I find it a bit brusque for the first five minutes. I didn’t “get” The Point at first, but on the third or so try it “clicked” and suddenly I couldn’t get enough.

Mental Snapshot: You’re the mayor of a bougie seaside town. A village, you probably call it. You probably don’t use the word bougie, either. Nantucket in looks, Carmel-by-the-Sea in spirit. There’s no crime here, only curious little mysteries. A missing teapot, a lost cocker spaniel. But you always solve them. Your beach house, The Point, probably smells exactly like this.

Water, but no ocean

I'm probably not giving this a totally fair shake, but I'm disappointed. I had this recommended to me as a marine scent, but it's honestly not. The salt doesn't come through as much as "sunscreen" and it lacks that vegetal bite that sea water has. Its very refreshing though, and highly wearable if you're going for that "water nymph at a gala" type vibe.

Get to the point!

I'll be honest: I hate jasmine notes. So when a friend of mine ordered a sample of this, I knew I wanted to try it so that I could sample the entire Clue line, without having to spend money on a potentially floral scent I wouldn't enjoy. I am thrilled to announce to the jasmine haters that this fragrance is absolutely gorgeous. It really nails that salty, briny, clay vibe, while also not hitting you over the head with its floral note. I love Clue, I love The Point, even if it wouldn't be a full size purchase for me personally.
