A popular perfume by De Gabor for women and men. The release year is unknown. The scent is leathery-animal. Projection and longevity are above-average. It is still in production.

Quite the surprise
Leather Forever really surprised me. It opened with prominent leather along with a spicy/bitter accord which I assume is the saffron. I did not get any rose or cinnamon and don't know what black truffle smells like. It's certainly possible some well blended combination of these notes contributed to the spicy/bitter accord. As it began to dry down, the animalic accord became much more prominent. It wasn't oud barnyard or cheese but more just a general oily animal scent. The leather became less. It seemed to be a castoreum scent more than a leathery scent. Or, to put it another way, Leather Forever is not an animalic leather but a leathery animalic, if that makes sense. In the final dry down, it reminded me very much of Zoologist's Hyrax, only slightly stronger.

Longevity and projection were pretty good. I'd rate Leather Forever as quite masculine and certainly wearable, but nothing special. It's best use would be as a base layer to animal-up other fragrances. However, seeing that it goes for $300 for 50 ml, it's kinda expensive for that purpose. I'll pass.

Just go for its Arabian alter ego.
I would find it hard to understand why someone would pick "Leather Forever" over De Gabor's "Leather Forever - Arabian Edition" masterpiece. The latter is considerably more enjoyable and multifaceted, while still being a through-and-through leather perfume more than anything else.

This one here has an abundance of leather, a high quality black car seat leather. Gabor's leather accord is one of the most realistic I have come across in the industry. But other than that this juice needs more pizzazz. Moreover, it has this oily 'latrine' note which to me personally makes the whole mix slightly off-putting. The lovers of unapologetic animalic scents might fervently disagree.

see you leather
Opens up with a prominent saffron leatherish note ( as mentioned before saffron here loses its oriental connotation becoming somehow dark) and some cinnamon .Leather evolves into a more powdery and smoky heart. Oud marks then transition to an animalic ( and gently balanced castoreum)and powdery base.
On the overall performance and sillage are noticeably good .Composition is quiet pleasing but lacks originality .
Despite a very sparkling opening it settles into something very solid and unfortunately less complex than the amount of notes declared.(Matter of skin PH??? ......)

Leather Forever, but does it have to be this one?
Oh, how I was looking forward to this fragrance; the first statements sounded as if this were a pure leather scent; leather with leather and more leather, just the way we (at least I) like it. The name of the perfume said enough. Then I saw it in the souk and seized the opportunity. In the composition, I hoped for not just any leather but a leather grail.
The opening is distinctly marked by saffron. This blend smells so different from the usual leather-saffron mixture; the saffron is less warm and spicy, less racy. This is probably due to the rather dark leather or leather note that has been used here. It is also influenced by the truffle, in this case, the black truffle. It smells earthy, like musk, and the leather is affected by these nuances. This opening is not for the faint-hearted. However, what comes across as powerful at first becomes somewhat dull and monotonous over time.
Eventually, the oud also emerges, which stands out repeatedly but has little to counter the earthy notes. It remains earthy, but one can clearly notice the difference between the earthy “mushroom/truffle” and patchouli. The patchouli adds a certain sweetness to the leather, and the sandalwood may also contribute to this.
I unfortunately could hardly perceive birch, which I find very unfortunate. Both in tar form and as simple birch, it would have been an enhancement.
All of this is constantly underscored by animalic notes. Light resinous scents are also subtly present - if one knows to look for them. Here I must say that leather plus resin works significantly better, much more intense and fragrant, as well as more multifaceted. This also generally applies to other ingredients in combination with leather, which seems to be, somewhat sadly, the credo of Leather Forever, at least if I may assert this.
So that was my experience with Leather Forever. I had hoped for more, I must say. After the first test, I was also thrilled. The more often I wore this fragrance, the less it managed to excite me. Is this fragrance perceived as high quality? Absolutely! Anyone looking for an alternative to leather-saffron-raspberry or who finds intense saffron too much should definitely test this despite my words.
From the first impression of tires, motor oil, and workshop, nothing remains after sufficient engagement with the scent.
That’s it, and now I’ll return to my earworm from the Leather Girls:

“Leather forever, I'll be testing
Everlasting, like the sun
Live forever, for the Leather
Ever searching for the one”
My search did not end here, though.

Leather of the Highest Art
Naively, I entered the niche house on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, intending to smell a Montale fragrance. I quickly recognized the quality as too low for my taste and preferred to turn to Roja and Xerjoff instead.

The fragrances from Roja and Xerjoff were of excellent quality, but I carried a longing for depth and darkness...

So I was recommended the following fragrance, and like Mozart's Requiem, it pierced my heart with a tremor!
It was like falling in love and being abandoned at the same time!

The opening was shocking and in the next moment tender and touching. The feeling continues, yet love prevails... I consciously describe the notes as emotions, for that is what this fragrance is worth to me..!

Initially spicy-rubbery and dark, a dry and dusty, animalic spicy-leathery Winter fragrance, on a warm and musky earthy-woody base.

Another exorbitantly expensive niche brand that I just don't get: artificial-looking leather, intense, complex wood base.

The first minutes are too intense for me - dung oud. Over time, the leather comes through and is flanked by sweet resins. Not really my thing.

This is how Formula 1 drivers smelled 65 years ago: black leather, rubber burn, warm engine oil.
Strict and humorless, yet well-crafted!

I don't find it leathery at all. Stuffy and dry-animalistic. Reminds me of "Divine Attraction" and "Type Writer" and is for me (...

Starts off with strong notes of Mūsīqá Oud, but then clearly shifts towards cobbler and shoe polish. Dirty leather scent. Well done.

Like Tauers L'Oudh with extra old oil. Lubricants, new leather seats, rubber tire factory, and shoe polish. Absolutely fantastic sniffing experience.

First authentic leather, quite bitter, then a thin synthetic base. That was probably nothing.
