Dirty citrus
I have a rather large collection of fragrances, and at the moment, Act is my number one! I understand that it may not appeal to everyone, but it’s such a well done creation!
Succulent and tart citrus in the opening, with the promise of something less than clean in the background. The animalic/corporal notes start to become more apparent after a short while. I like to describe it as putting on a crisp and freshly laundered white shirt after a long day working in the sun, and now having had a shower first.
I wouldn’t say it’s very experimental though. It has the right amount of pleasant and of “acquired taste”.
It’s definitely worth trying out!

Der Duft / Act
ACT- smells like ....... new Rhinoceros with a few differences. So Act, apart from a very large and perceptible component of tobacco (a great reproduction of this smell), you can smell cypress trees, ambergris, musk (it is very good :-) and bitter orange (especially in the top note). The fragrance was so close to my reception Rhino (Zoologist) that I buried and BINGO- we have the nose of Mr. Prin Lomros- that is the creator of Rhino :-) and 2 other fragrances for Zoologist.
The perfume is from 2021, the durability is very good, the projection is much above the norm. Even though I have Rhino and I really like this perfume- I chose Act- why? Probably because of this marriage of TOBACCO, BITTER ORANGE, CYPRUS and MUSK. I was captivated by this perfume, even though it felt a clear resemblance.

Weird and fantastic at once.
The first Der Duft creation I'm dealing with. Accompanied me all spring and the beginning of the unbearable summer.

Tempted by opinions about connotations with another creation of Mr. Prin, a certain animal. I knew it would be a 10 points blind buy-shot!

So it is, an aromatic fougère with a modern twist, woody fresh, aromatic play of cypress with lavender in the opening.

Clearly bitter citruses, balancing with musk giving a bit of wildness. Imagine a hairy lime or a hairy orange lying on the oakmoss.

And the best, tobacco, beautifully resounding and changeable. Clearly present, unique. Complementing the whole. Thoughtful composition.

A beautiful niche that is not often talked about at fragcommunity. Pure perfumery art. There is No snakes or another inspired pineapple clone

1. Act, and not a bad one
This is the beginning of a comment series that I dedicate to the perfumes of DER DUFT, after I won a discovery set with 6 samples (with special thanks to Don). I am happy to fulfill his request for "at least 4 reviews," while also keeping the promise of my last blog post to do this completely without fun, after I have already tricked the community for the third time with an April Fool's joke :) And nothing is better suited for this than my personal notes during my tests, which I can quote here almost 1:1.

So here is the (very) first comment on this fragrance:

Act opens very citrusy, unfortunately including a somewhat unpleasant note - quite musty, but luckily only for about 10 minutes. Subsequently, the fragrance increasingly blends in a difficult-to-define herbal note that slightly reminds me of eucalyptus, but according to the pyramid can "only" be a mix of lavender, cypress, and possibly vetiver. This slightly spicy plant tone makes up about half of the Act after about half an hour, while the citrus notes clearly start to fade. The whole thing is additionally underpinned by a slightly sharp tone, which soon reveals itself as tobacco, here subtly smoky, yet warm. After an hour, the following picture emerges: Citrus 30%, Plants 40%, (Spicy) Tobacco 30%, with the fragrance now also smelling slightly sweet. Great!

Returning to the "herbal" component, I can certainly understand the many impressions in the pie chart, as this main accord indeed has a bit of everything: it is subtly green, a little woody, quite (lightly) spicy, less earthy, but more resinous in my perception. Individually, these nuances are hard to pick out, as they are packed into a dense mix. Nevertheless, this is not a heavy fragrance - on the contrary, for me it is rather light and dancing, interwoven with a sweetly warm-smoky tobacco note that becomes a bit more pronounced after about 1.5 hours, while the lime is no longer perceptible as such, although it still provides a certain freshness to the Act.

I can hardly make out the moss, while the lavender and vetiver contribute to a certain silvery-gray mood of the fragrance and set a small, yet very harmonious counterpoint to the fine sweetness of the tobacco. As time goes on, the fragrance slowly loses its citrus, freshness, and sweetness. What remains is the light "spice" of the tobacco, embedded in an increasingly gray vetiver (which feels dry and grassy), making it somewhat less pleasing and more serious and masculine after about 4 hours, although the slightly sweet notes still occasionally shine through.

After 6 hours, the sillage on my neck is about 60-70% and is still quite noticeable. After 8 hours, the Act no longer fluctuates but reflects the concentrate of all notes, essentially: bright grassy vetiver + lavender, sweet-fine-smoky-lightly spicy tobacco, and soft warm musk. But then the sillage noticeably diminishes, dropping to about 30% after about 10 hours. Still not skin-close, but only "strong" enough that it occasionally rises in a fine waft from the neck to make its presence felt again.

Regarding longevity and sillage, there is nothing to complain about, and overall I consider the Act to be a successful, unusual fragrance. Although it does not fit my personal taste, a test is recommended, as it is equally suitable for both genders and any season.

So, that was it, the 1st Act of my comment series on the DER DUFT perfumes, and the 2nd will follow soon on "Cinematic."

Act of Desperation
According to the arrangement of the fragrance notes, Act could theoretically have been a rather decent summery citrus scent with a hint of lavender and a few interesting extras. Perhaps the tobacco stands out a bit, but otherwise, there's nothing particularly striking to be found.

In practice, Act is accompanied at the start by a rather unclean, barn-like note - similar to what one experiences with the use of oud. Not quite as overpowering, but noticeable. For some, it may be a welcome and surprising extra bonus that goes against the olfactory grain, while for others, it is almost an overwhelming disruption in an otherwise pleasant flow.

After about an hour, the barn-like nuance has faded, allowing Act to develop into a rather rounded warm-citrusy scent. I think amber and musk contribute significantly to this, and one wonders why it couldn't start off like this right away. Especially since a few appealing fruity-floral facets then reveal themselves. A comparison to lemonade is not so far-fetched. And the longevity is also okay.

Therefore: those who like their citrus scents a bit unorthodox, especially in the opening with a slightly dirty approach, should definitely add Act to their wishlist. Everyone else, myself included, might want to stay home for the first hour and only venture out among people afterward.
Accordingly, the rating is a bit ambivalent, but I unfortunately have to consider the overall package and thus act a bit stricter. Especially since I suspect what one might want to hint at with Act or what kind of Act/Act one wishes to suggest. If that is indeed the case, and even independent of that, the concept or execution of the theme does not really convince me.

Interesting, unconventional, a bit citrusy and sharp, but do I want to smell like this? It's fragrance art or citrus peels just before the compost.

Vibrant, distinctive green-citrus-cypress and grassy-lavender "cinema" scent. Wonderfully wonderful! But less is more!
