Lumiere noire?
I've got me a full bottle of this delicious stuff after smelling the sampleset from @der_duft.
Because it remembers me of the neo-chypre Lumiere noire from Francis Kurkdjian. The fragrance is not quite the same of course but the similairity is there. This one has it's own original vintage chypre touch made by Miguel Matos. Can't help sniffing my arm when sprayed upon. It's like an addictive nose massageing scent. A little powdery creamy scent.

A “modern classic”
I wasn’t sure what to make of Pride the first time I smelled it. But it had that thing about it that compelled me to come back to it again and again. So it wasn’t love at first sniff, but I eventually fell in love with it.

I call it a “modern classic” because it has some old fashioned qualities (in a positive way), but overall it is a modern take on classic masculine fragrances. It is earthy and green, I also detect a subtle floral soapiness. A must have for lovers of oakmoss!

Sometimes the second attempt works
Pride…. I like the name, Pride. It immediately reminds me of a movie about the miners' strike in 1984 in England, which is very worth watching. And words like dignity and composure, but also arrogance and stubbornness. And of course, Sneakers, a colorful terrier mix from the neighborhood who proudly rides on her owner's walker. Don't worry, she gets her exercise too, but unfortunately, her owner is getting more delicate and smaller, and he appreciates every bit of attention that Sneakers receives. Ultimately, these gestures make him happy too. He beams with joy, his whole face crinkles into a thousand folds, and his eyes sparkle awake and friendly; if it weren't for Corona, I would hug him every time. Yes, I am quite fond of both of them, but this is about fragrance, so enough of the other stories.

I sprayed the sample of Pride unsuspectingly, quite intensely green, rather harsh… I like it bitter, but please not that bitter. I thought to myself that not everything can please me, sniffed a little more at my wrist, then went to shower and Pride was initially a thing of the past. Two days later, I read the description here and tried it again; a second chance is only fair. Indeed, I still found the opening a bit obstinate, but now I also perceived the citrus note of bergamot, which was missing in my first test. And indeed, Pride becomes more cuddly, turning resinous and woody green, warmer with a restrained sweet, earthy freshness from the sandalwood. Patchouli spices up the base with the right dose of a dark, bitter chocolate note. In short, I now quite like Pride's rough charm. And since the third test, I feel real affection for Pride, at least enough to have ordered a sample set from the brand.

Sillage and longevity are in the good to strong range; I would prefer to wear Pride in autumn and winter. I also agree it is unisex.

Thanks to Hasi for the introduction; we agree on that - even if sometimes perfume worlds lie between us :o)

Steppenwolf
"Pride" by "Der Duft" reminds me a lot of (a slightly higher quality, minimally more transparent version of) "Jungle Pour Homme" by Kenzo - my inquiries about an incredibly popular, modern men's classic with a unique scent character. Well, not anymore...

"Pride" transports me directly to the steppes and semi-deserts of Africa, a very warm, palpable scent. This effect is likely created by a blend of sandalwood and cashmeran, but that would be too simple; it hardly does justice to such a fascinating DNA. Sand and wood, sun and jeeps, safari and big cats. A scent for the Tiger King - if he were a gentleman in a suit. "Pride" certainly expresses pride, freedom, and character, making the name very fitting. A cuddly bear from South Africa to the CSD in Cologne. Pleasant to the power of ten, soft as rich, wonderfully indispensable.

Bottle: see other "Der Duft" comments ;-)
Sillage: like a warm breeze of desert sand
Longevity: a reliable companion - 7-9 hours long

Conclusion: a very creamy-grainy, texture-rich sandalwood scent with desert vibes, but anything but desert vibes.

With Proudly Swelled Chest

A brand that calls itself "The Scent" and offers a perfume named "Pride" certainly moves forward with a proudly swelled chest. This raises expectations and, correspondingly, the potential for a fall.

A fleeting glance at the pyramid quickly reveals that "Pride" is relatively complex yet quite linear in design. Once sprayed, one gets the feeling that all the ingredients want to burst forth at once.

The most intense notes are dominated by bergamot, sandalwood, patchouli, and cashmeran, giving "Pride" a woody and spicy character with a minimal touch of synthetics.

Despite the rather light wood, amber provides a warm nuance and, with a slightly bitter undertone, reminds me a bit of the jazz scent from YSL back in the day - a fragrance I primarily wore in the autumn and also classified as woody-spicy, though officially composed quite differently.

The patchouli doesn’t seem very prominent to me right now, yet a colleague immediately noticed it without knowing what "Pride" was about. On the other hand, I wondered where this rather fruity aspect might come from, which shines so intensely at the beginning.

I fear this is one of those scents that may fascinate a bit during the first to third wear, but then quickly loses its charm and has a slight nerve factor.

For this reason, after much consideration, I cannot go beyond 7.5 points. In terms of longevity, however, I can unreservedly award 8 points, even though that is not a discipline a fragrance must necessarily be proud of.

That's hard for me to like. Smells like a cheap sample from the ads page of a 1990s magazine. I can't put my finger on it, but not pleasant

Homage to the Chypre of old days. Quite a prominent daffodil, bergamot-fresh with subtle animalic notes - on patchy mossy forest floor.
