Bloody hell it’s me!

So this starts off with a pretty strong blast of spicy pepperiness or cardamom. It wakes you up in the morning for sure. It’s not listed in the notes so I’m not sure what makes it smell the way it does. I’m not a big fan of strong poignant scents (read my review on Kilian Intoxicated for evidence). But boy is this well rounded. I couldn’t have imagined what happened during the rest of its lifetime though.

First things first. Incredible sillage straight from the start. It infumigates the room with just a few sprays. Thinking to myself: hmm, not sure how this is going to go down with me. Drank a coffee, put my shoes on, taking the dog for a walk through sunny springtime. I remember thinking… nature’s smell is doing amazing things today, thinking it was soil and flowers around me. But bloody hell it was me!

The edge slowly but surely wears off. After a couple of hours it starts to transform into a gentlemanly barbershoppy scent in the most beautiful way. It’s still got a bit of a “dirty” edge to it but nothing concerning. Just really really enjoyable stuff.

I’ve tested this perfume a couple of times now from a decant. Is it FB worthy? Yes of course, it’s beautiful.

Trial of the Grasses

The perfume starts off with a damp, right-after-rain, greenish forest-floor vibe. Wet soil and herbs (wild mint is the most prominent) are all around as you walk in the woods. After around 30 minutes a distant, slightly sour and well-rounded aromatic smoke mixed with the essence of vetiver and nagarmotha hits your nose. The smoke accord is amping up, as you reach the fire in a forest-glade surrounded by giant oaks. As you sit close to the fire, the smell of oakmoss and precious woods is mixing up with the smoke and mellows to a nice, slightly dry woody base sweetened a bit by balsamic notes. Longevity is great, 8+ hours on my skin, projection is excellent for a good 2-3 hours, great for another 3, and perfume will sit close to your skin for the last 2-3 hours.
