A polarizing but unique celebrity fragrance
I never imagined I'd get the opportunity to smell Rihanna's perfume but luckily, I took a trip to a Sephora in Montreal and it was on display. I was intrigued when I first smelled it from the nozzle: there was an interesting mix of florals and blueberries, but I could also detect warmth, luxury and a heavy tropical scent. The smell strangely reminded me of a Lush store: a mix of scents from various sources, not necessarily clashing, but not harmonious either.
This is when I decided to spray it on my skin and wow, I was shook. First thing: it's a heavy and sophisticated fragrance. Not suited for everyone and certainly not a blind buy for anyone. There was this tang of citrus, probably from the bergamot and tangerine, (that did give off this slight astringent smell, reminiscent of house cleaner) but I could also smell the creamy tropical coconut that tempered it all. I recognized the rose that wanted to surface, but also the blueberry that was trying to push through. The scent is a rollercoaster ride. One moment I'm sniffing a citrus scent tinged with coconut and the next one I'm smelling various flowers with an accompanying blueberry companion. There's this earthy, grounded, almost dirty, aspect to it that drew me in constantly. All of this gave me heavy and warm tropical temperature vibes that felt luxurious and opulent.
It's truly a chameleon with amazing sillage and lasting power. It fits my definition of beast-mode fragrance: one spray and I have this amazing scent bubble that lasts a long time (no need for more than one unless you want to choke people). I'd wear it for a night out or a special occasion during any weather. It shines in warm weather but has a nice vibe during colder months too. People need to see this scent as a Fenty branded fragrance and not what they think Rihanna smells like (a lot have already said she wears Kilian anyways). It's an amazing celebrity fragrance and a unique one I was quite happy to add to my collection!
