all it's missing is a Tropical Splash of chlorine
i can't even believe i'm reviewing a body mist lol...i really don't take them very seriously or even really bother looking at them at all, but this one has taken me. it's super duper nice, clean and fresh. i purchased because i use and love Fenty's Comeback Kid leave-in treatment, i'm not really into that many expensive products outside of perfume, skincare, and a few hair products; "nothing that goes down the drain," is my rule. i saw that The Mista maybe smelled like it, and it does! i always loved the smell of the leave-in, but not for any specific reason other than this product works on my waves nicely and it smells really, really good. once The Mista showed up though, i went to read some reviews on Sephora to get a little vibe check and someone said this reminded them of something their mom wore in the 90s, but added it may be "nostalgic for millennials" (paraphrasing). i sat and thought. and sat and thought, asked myself what memories do i even have left in my brain anymore. and it hit me: Barbie. why do i smell Barbie? which Barbie? down the google rabbit hole i went ("Scented Barbie 90s") and found a long-lost friend of mine: TROPICAL SPLASH BARBIE! did she smell like this? i don't recall. but i HAD HER, and HAVE SMELLED THIS BEFORE. it was probably her, playing Mermaids with me in the pool lol. cross-checked the alt-right fragrance website and somewhat confirmed...though one of their capitulators claims ANOTHER Fenty product is what smells like Barbie. so who is to say, really. i don't actually care, despite...all of this research.

overall, this is a wonderful, not-too-tropical, not-too-floral, not-too-clean, fresh scent. for me, it obviously has the reminiscence of clean, air-drying hair, hoping for a few good hair days. it's so easy to wear, not juvenile or anything, just the right amount of sweet and fresh from florals and coconut (which i do not love). not laundry, but certainly freshly-showered. i am really enjoying it, to the point where i find myself having to choose between my newly-acquired G* Water and this--i share the same sentiment for them both: sometimes you just want to smell good. they have a similar wear time, this might even last a bit longer, plus has the bonus of being "safe" in hair (where it lasts FOREVER--as it also does on my bathrobe). and this is a bit stronger-smelling.

anyway, i'm reconsidering body mists. i've been giving them the stink-eye since this huge resurgence, but i really shouldn't. they're less expensive (albeit, likely overpriced), though many of these pricier ones last quite nicely, and many of them are less overwhelming, as well as come in much nicer packaging (glass bottles and whatnot). this one is quite perfect, though, for me! a pretty lackluster review, but it's just a goddamn body mist. better than miscellaneous berries and cupcake vanilla.

smells exactly like the Fenty Hair hair products. Unfortunately, there’s an undefinable note that bothers me a bit, otherwise a lovely scent.
