Double "S" I Sweet & Synthetic: unfortunately not living up to the hype...
Thanks to a dear colleague, I got a bottle of "Calabria | Gissah / قصة" and I already know the brand from fabulous fragrances like "Imperial Valley (Eau de Parfum) | Gissah / قصة" , "Capri | Gissah / قصة" and "Akoya | Gissah / قصة". I was all the more excited about Calabria because the fragrance had already been well hyped in the past. Long story short, absolutely no point: first spray, slightly disappointed.... hmmm... somehow I expected more.
Anyways, let's get into it:
- The opening is extremely synthetic for me. Apple is always extremely difficult to create and here again it proves that apple can also be very heavy, because this sweet, synthetic apple note is almost overwhelming. Paired with this bergamot, the whole thing becomes a little fresher, but unfortunately not better. For people who like this artificial sweetness, it may be "degustable", but for me it's just too much.
- Fortunately, this indefinable synthetic sweetness then subsides and you get a certain light fruity powderiness, which is rather velvety and not dry. In the drydown, the fragrance then becomes slightly sweet and ambery, well balanced with the vetiver. If you can get through the opening, you can actually hope for a beautiful fragrance, but the opening really is a challenge.
- H/S is very good, high up, not a beast, but not tame either. Both durability and projection.
Overall a nice fragrance from the middle with a tiring opening, but definitely not worth the hype. There are better fragrances from the house.
