Odette - Vibes

Fresh and slightly bitter but still sweet. Effervescent and playful.

The girl (or guy) who wears this perfume is a true romantic. She wears soft, short dresses with hand-knit pink cardigans. Her signature accessory is a long bow made of ribbon. Her lips are glossy, her eyes are soft and shimmery, and her cheeks are bathed in saturated pink blush. She always carries old romance novels, the ones with handsome men and beautiful women posed dramatically on the cover.

Happy Fruity Youth

Grapefruit, mimosas, and warm florals. Very bright and sunny. Picking up on Frangipani + Heliotropes. Feels warm, innocent, and playful. This scent profile tends to give me a headache, i think due to a slight coconut/sunblock scent, but it totally feels like the white swan. The champagne feels very bubbly and cold, like it was just popped and you’re sipping on it while scooping out a grapefruit. The rhubarb gives it a hint of tangyness, but it just balances well with the other clean and playful notes to blend a complex and youthful scent. The rose and orris do give me a floral baby powder vibe.

Tarty angel. Bitter as she is sweet. Dominant note for me is ruby grapefruit and runner-up is baby powder. Odette’s grapefruit is stellar – so juicy and bitter. There’s an effervescent bubbles-on-ice quality to the citrus but far more Italian soda than seltzer. She’s everything I wanted from DS&D’s Grapefruit Generation, which feels like the La Croix version of Odette. The baby powder must be the rose-orris amalgam. While the baby wipe accord scared me off of L’Eau D’Hiver, here the clinical musk plays splendidly with the grapefruit. Unfortunately, Odette has La Croix-level longevity on skin. Liked it on first spritz. Loved it when I reapplied several hours later on fabric. Feral when I got the electrum between Odette on one sleeve and Odile on the opposite wrist, both whispering to me to drop hundreds of dollars on wearable flavoured water. I can be your angle....or yuor devil.

Mental Snapshot: Early bird. Virgo stellium. So thorough with her self-care, she’s a wellness CEO. Barre, Gua Shua, NYT crossword, all before a breakfast nibble of rosewater Turkish Delight. Sixteen-step skincare routine, rewatching Sofia Copolla’s Marie Antoinette. You can bet she has a planner. At least three, monogramed in swooping scarlet calligraphy. Every evening is booked for “treating myself.”
