THE Floral Fragrance

When I first started getting into fragrances, I desperately wanted to love floral scents but they NEVER appealed to me. They always were way too green, or too powdery, or too sweet. Now that I'm more experienced and have smelled way more florals, I've found what works best for me. However, Little Flower smells the way I always wanted floral fragrances to smell! It's so balanced and classic but not boring. Huge fan. It's also a perk that I can smell like Chloe Sevigny whenever I want.

A Platonic Ideal of Rose

...At least, for me.

Little Flower is tart and bright, but the rose at its heart is balanced and true. Neither too powdery-spicy nor too green-stemmy, the rose note here feels equal parts velvety and fresh. This is easily the prettiest rose scent I've smelled in a long time. Little Flower feels like sipping a chilled blooming tea with a squeeze of lemon, a warm-day refreshment to be savored and enjoyed.

rose garden tea party

This is a fun one. A vegetal, stemmy rose; blood red, slightly thorny. And then a picnic spread wafting of sweet black tea and forest berry preserves. I’m not a big rose fan, but this is – dare I say – my favourite rose to date. Tart, jammy, bright green. It’s the sort of scent I’d wear to a garden party or a bachelorette. Or that masquerade ball at Versailles people spend years handcrafting their costumes for.

Of the Regime des Fleurs litter, I think Little Flower is probably the safest blind buy. If it were a food it’d be a strawberry-rhubarb tart. There’s something very “Bonne Maman” about the red berry accord, which dances along with the rose.

Mental Snapshot: A haute couture costume party in a hedgerow labyrinth, emerald walls studded with tender red blooms. Lace, crinolines, Gibson Girl bouffants. Everyone seems to have leaned either Alice in Wonderland or Mary Poppins. Laughter and secrets are shared between Jammie Dodgers and tea.

As Good as Everyone Says

I didn't want to like this as much as I did because 1) Everyone is talking about it and 2) It's out of my price range, but it is truly spectacular. A true rose with a whiff of tea and ripe fruits, bleeding heart (!!!) and inviting honeysuckle, a little touch of something woody at the end. I really appreciate how careful and delicate this composition is. I'm gonna have shell out the $$$ for a full bottle.

A classic rose!

This scent opens strong with the rose note, which remains fairly linear as the fragrance dries down. The projection is quite impressive at the beginning of its evolution. I proceeded to sleep in this fragrance, and by the time I woke up from my nap, it had mostly faded away. While the longevity is quite average, the juiciness of the opening, and the slight tartness that comes from the pomelo and blackcurrant notes, makes this a fun fragrance for me! The rose, while less photorealistic than some other rose fragrances, is recognizable and pleasant without being obviously artificial.
