Great Gentle Oud Scent
Billion Dollar Oud is a fragrance I discovered through the sample set of this brand. This set consists of all 5 scents that this brand from Spain launched simultaneously. Since then, nothing new has come out. I don't know if this was just the start of the brand or if it was a one-time thing. In any case, it's a cool name and the scents have already convinced me, some more than others. One slight fail is that the bottles look extremely ambiguous; was that intentional? Not that they aren't pretty, but most people surely know what I mean. However, the fragrances are convincing: a rose scent, an amber scent, a fresh scent, a clean scent, and here, an oud scent. Well divided and stylistically, there’s something for many. I'm reporting on this Billion Dollar Oud because it stood out positively to me and could fit quite well into the upcoming autumn. The name might be a bit far-fetched, but from a marketing perspective, it’s a well-chosen name.
This scent is the most expensive from this brand at €220 for 100ml, while the other four only cost €190. It may have been more expensive to produce, but it definitely smells high quality.
I find the bottles pretty and would also display them in my collection. Visually and artistically, they are great, but as I said, they have a look with ulterior motives.
Even though oud is present and can be easily detected, this is a rather gentle oriental that is not as heavy to wear as one might think. In the opening, you get a lot of nutmeg, but caramel from the heart note also sets in early. This caramel gives the fragrance a nice sweetness and evokes memories of a fair where you also smell a lot of sweets and spices. This pleasant caramel sweetness runs through the entire development, making this scent very appealing. With saffron and oud, you get great edges and facets in this fragrance that prevent it from being too gourmand. The nutmeg note is also really pleasant. As a woody component, a great dose of Akigalawood is added. A note I really like due to its modern composition. This woody note definitely livens up this fragrance and rounds it out nicely. Additionally, a soft cashmeran note beautifully connects everything and adds a smooth touch. The base of vanilla, amber, and oud is very soft and has great autumnal vibes. A wonderful sensually soft aura with truly gentle oud. Even though the name suggests it: even oud opponents can warm up to this fragrance. The scent has very slight Haltane vibes, but here it is, of course, much sweeter. I really like this fragrance, and it would be absolutely great for autumn.
Performance is good, but not too overpowering due to these pleasing notes. Sillage is perfect for lovely mild autumn weather and can also impress outdoors. Overall, a great cozy DNA with wonderful radiance.
In summary, a fantastic overall package with a great mix of nutmeg, saffron, caramel-vanilla, gentle oud, and Akigalawood. This combination is very harmonious and not too demanding as one might expect.
