Let's see what happens going forward
As I mentioned on fragrantica, I REALLY want to like this stuff. I have been following the development of this perfumer and his company, and I really want to support them.

The fragrance is pleasant and I'm sure they're using only the best ingredients. I bought a decanter to sample and I finally applied it this morning. And when I say that I applied it, I over-sprayed big time... I mean I'm talking 20+ sprays (btw, the atomizer in the decanter is not great) which included several sprays to my shirt. After about one to 1.5 hours, the fragrance was invisible to me AND to my wife (with her nose right up to my skin.) For a niche/ indie house its prices aren't bad but the lack of performance is a bit of a deal-breaker for me. On the other hand, your mileage may vary.

I wish Savoir Faire the best going forward and I'll give it another try in a year or so. But for now, I'm out.

Handsome
This is such a delicious, uber-smooth scent which could be best described as a crystallized orange and smooth purple lavender on a base of warm wood and tobacco with flecks of coffee. The blending is fantastic, with great note separation; nothing in particular jumps out, including the oud. The performance is exceptional, strong and present but never overbearing. Cuba is right about this one - right from jump, it was full bottle worthy for me. I feel like it's a very "handsome" scent.

Fabulous
The word that comes to mind for me with Soul Cafe.

Like many, I am am a fan of orange (doubly so with blood orange). The joy for this particular creation is the beautiful transition from the rouge tart of blood orange, to a pipe tobacco. It is wonderfully clever.

Initially, blood orange. Not too tart, edging towards aggressive. It never crosses the line for me. (Perhaps that will change as the bottle ages. They blend them to order I believe). But oh goodness. As the orange note opens up it reveals the tobacco secret it had kept at bay. Why did blood orange keep this secret for first hour, I don’t nt know. I am just grateful for the trust. I smirked when the tobacco arrived.

Lavender begins to come to play at this point. The dryness of the tobacco remains with lavender filling the spaces with its heady, slightly sweet elements. Where the orange once stood, lavender takes its place. It is such a smooth shift. You know the change has occurred, but you did not notice the movement nor mind the shift. As though you expected the surprise.

Oud I assume adds the resinous element that creates the firewood experience supported by musk that ultimately gives the lift to the fragrance in it’s base.

I can sense the coffee, and in larger doses, perhaps it would present more. I am not eager for it, so it’s role is just fine to me.

I’ll say again in, fabulous. This is a love. My favorite bit of perfumerie is the structure and clever way notes are in alignment. I have a particular affinity for orange in this fragrance because how it reminds me of Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche. They are not similar in scent at all. They are only similar in how they play with orange in their composition.

This, by far, was a more titillating experience, and I am joyful for it.

Peace

A blood-orange dominant furniture polish. It doesn't smell bad, but I don't want to smell like it.
