Nicely done floral gourmand

Douce Insomnie fits very nicely for the autumn mood when it rains all day, and I just want my coffee and a good book.

It is a floral gourmand scent. Beautiful white flowers (and you know I love them) mix with the coffee note. It is slightly lactonic, and at times it smells almost just like my sweetened cappuccino. The base is a little powdery, and the vanilla with sandalwood makes the scent creamy. Like a perfect warm drink.

To me, this perfume reminds me of Black Opium a little bit, so if you are on the team Black Opium, there is a big chance you would enjoy this scent.

It lasts a decent amount of time on the skin and stays beautifully on clothes or hair (I know, one should not perfume the hair, but a few drops accidentally touched it, and I could smell the playful hints of this scent long after it was gone off my skin).

Even too sweet for me!

I like sweet scents. When I read "too sweet" in reviews, it translates to my nose's language as "try me!" So I tested it.

Since there were some complaints about the sillage, I tested it generously right away: a mistake. The sticky-sweet fragrance cloud spread around me far and wide, filling the entire car (where three other people were sitting beside me). I felt a bit nauseous in the car - was it the mountainous landscape or Douce Insomnie?

Over time, I find it better - it is still sweet, but becomes much more pleasant, reminding me of "Black Opium," but the coffee... Where is it?
At this point, I must confess that I have been such a coffee junkie in the mornings for years that my nose might be coffee-blind when it comes to perfume. I can't smell the coffee in either "Black Opium Le Parfum | Yves Saint Laurent," "Café del Sol | Mr. Waldron," or this scent "Douce Insomnie | L'Atelier Parfum." What a shame.

The longevity is average for me: it can be reapplied after 4-5 hours for more drama, but it doesn't have to be.

Despite the fragrance mishap during the car ride, I find the scent - when dosed reasonably - quite nice and would like to use up the sample, but that’s where it ends.

Sweet, Creamy Coffee

A hot cappuccino on the couch on a rainy Sunday. It wraps you in its sweet, cozy warmth and gives you a homely feeling.
It starts with a very sweet orange blossom. But soon it dries down to a pleasant creamy coffee dream, gaining depth from a light floral note.
As time goes by, the scent becomes creamier, gently accompanying you. Yet it never seems too extroverted.
A fragrance that brings your endorphins to life. It simply makes you happy.

I was hoping for a fragrance with a nice cappuccino note, unfortunately all I get are white florals. Similar to Black Opium, a bit generic.

Beautiful notes, but the sillage and longevity are practically zero. That's a shame. Three minutes of scent, utterly enchanting, then the cappuccino is gone.

In the opening, it's 1:1 black opium, but becomes creamier, softer, and more powdery (thanks to iris and vanilla)
a beautiful gourmand-floral scent but nothing new.
