Too floral, not enough candy
I love candy-like fragrances but this just isn't for me and I didn't get much candy at all.

The pear and marshmallow at the start are heavenly but they dissipate super quickly. Then the violet and jasmine came through (neither of which I enjoy) and the sweetness just became floral and powdery. As the base notes emerge, I only pick up on the sandalwood—maybe a hint of tonka bean, but not much.

Overall, this is a sweet and powdery fragrance. However, it has too many floral and woodsy notes that outlast and overpower the sweetness which I am more partial to.

The middle child between Vanilla | 28 and The Wedding Silk Santal | 36
I was one of the lucky ones who received a sample of this fragrance with a purchase from Sephora Canada when it was available. I waited until it was announced and entered in the Parfumo database before trying it.

Touted as the little sister to "Vanilla | 28 | Kayali", she's more like the middle child between the aforementioned fragrance and The Wedding Silk Santal | 36 (without the praline note). Those who missed the latter will probably find solace in this one (although rumors of Silk Santal coming back have been circulating). The beginning is sweet and delightfully creamy, at times a bit overwhelming. It is light and airy, but at the same time quite sugary sweet. It reminded me a bit of an undescript B&B sweet fragrance. The middle notes gives off a sweetness that reminded me of crystaliized honey which is probably coming from the white caramel. Underneath the mound of sugary sweetness lies ylang ylang which has a slightly fruity and tropical facet while jasmine has a fruity and powdery aspect. If the top and middle notes remind me of Silk Santal | 36, the drydown does gives deeper and more complex notes reminiscent of Vanilla | 28. Cashmere wood adds this comforting velvety feeling while patchouli is dark and earthy, tempering down the sweetness that was quite apparent at the beginning. Vetiver adds warmth while tonka beans and sandalwood further reinforces this impression. There's no woody notes coming in from the sandalwood. Rock sugar adds a gourmand finishing touch.

There's quite a stark difference bewteen 2/3rd of the perfume and its drydown. The first part is young, sweet and delightful like candy while the drydown is deeper with complexity and a more mature take on sweetness. When the most volatile notes have left my skin, cashmere wood and tonka bean remain the strongest giving a velvety and powdery sugared skin scent.

The drydown is probably the reason why I gave this fragrance a score of 8/10. The top and middle notes remind me way too much of Silk Santal and I don't feel like Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar | 42 (VCRS) really stands out as a different or unique offering from Kayali. Like I've mentioned before, VCRS stands in the middle bewteen Vanilla | 28 and Silk Santal | 36. I will say that it is lighter than Vanilla | 28, offering a good alternative for warmer temperatures if you wish to smell sweet. It's also a bit less perfumey and powdery than Silk Santal | 36. If you own one or both of these fragrances, I'm not sure you really need this one (apart from supporting Kayali or owning the beautiful bottle).

a big "no" for me... sickly sweet and scratchy
Mona called this Vanilla 28s “little sister” and I agree. She’s sweeter, bubblegum cute, and a less heavy. But… she dries downs to be just like her big sister and has the same scratchy patchouli note that I hate. Such a bummer because I was, like many others, excited for a new variation.

It does not at all smell like Silk Santal except for having the same general sweet/wood/fruit balance of every scent from the house. This is exactly what was advertised, and you’ll have to decide for yourself if that’s something you want or need :)

Really sweet, pear candy scent
This is my second favorite Kayali perfume!
I get sugar, and like, candied pear in the opening, with some cream and bubblegum.
When I got a travel size, I loved it and used it all up in quick order. I got the 100 ml bottle and it was completely different at first unfortunately; I got a lot of patchouli in the dry down and it was unpleasant. The juice was also really light.
However, I let it sit for a few months and it got darker, now it smells exactly exactly like the travel size I loved!! The dry down on me now mostly smells lightly of that same candied pear, heavily of sugar, and of vanilla.
I don't really pick up any of the woods, the rum, the vetiver or the praline. it just smells like sweet pear candy to me!
Longevity on me is good. I get like 5-6 hours out of it.

One of her bests!!
I can’t get enough of this scent, it is absolutely amazing. Starts off very bright and sugary. I get the ylang ylang and jellybean the most at first. The bubblegum is there but not too loud, it is more in the background. The powdery scent i get from this is from that bubblegum, reminds me a lot of Big League Chew bubblegum, especially the powder that is on it. My skin pulls the jasmine and violet a lot more about an hour later but that jellybean and bubblegum powder is still there. The vanilla cream, marshmallow and sandalwood stay more in the background for me around this time but it is there. A few hours after, the jasmine and violet are no longer there, now i get what i would call a mix of vanilla 28 and silk santal with a creamy marshmallow base and powdery jellybeans. That is what i get on skin. On clothes i get that jellybean, bubblegum, pear, vanilla cream, marshmallow and a little bit of rum. Super sweet and yummy. Love it on skin but definitely love it more on clothes!

I wish I liked this because the bottle and juice are stunning, but it’s so cloying and unoriginal.

Too generic and similar to La Belle in my opinion. I get a lot of candied pear and some undefined sweet notes.

A very strong scent- mainly a sugary bubble gum but there is a clear opening note of candied pear. I love layering this with snow fairy :)

Marshmallow, whipped cream, and subtle pear tartness, followed by vanilla and white florals. Very sweet, syrupy, dense, and cloying.
