Moondance — LoveShackFancy: A Perfectly Blended Floral Alloy
Moondance is a dreamy, elegant scent. Velvety, smooth, warm and rich. But as an experience it's SO odd? Seriously, I've been wearing it all day and it's utterly bizarre, unlike anything I've ever worn before.
The fragrance pyramid is supposedly Rose/Magnolia/Sandalwood. But - on me at least - there are no top, middle or base notes that gradually reveal themselves over time, just one unholy mutant RoNoliaDalwood vibe that lasts...and lasts and lasts. I can't pick anything out individually, even though I've been trying. I've had well blended fragrances before, but this is a complete fusion. Not a single, linear note, but a cocktail, or a floral alloy. Where does one scent begin and another end? Who knows? Moondance is an ouroboros eating its own tail.
The longevity is also insane! I have a sample of Boheme on my opposite wrist, sprayed at the same time. Boheme behaved how I expect a perfume to, unveiling its notes gradually, and now it's faded to almost nothing. Reasonable after eight hours!
But Moondance? She's not going anywhere, she's somehow EXACTLY as strong as the moment I sprayed her. She's moved in, eaten everything in my fridge and fallen asleep on my couch. At this rate, I'll have to start charging her rent.
All in all, it's a beautiful perfume. Super feminine profile at first sniff, but I can imagine layering it with something with woods, pepper/spices or citrus to tone that down a little if, like me, you're not high femme.
