Saffron AND frankincense without making me sick?
This is the first fragrance where I am not bothered by my nemesis saffron and incense.
That must really mean something, because I've never liked a fragrance with one of the two notes before, let alone two of them combined in one fragrance.
Kn: opens with a warm (saffron) spiciness, which makes me think of dunes and heat. Not unpleasant at all, but warming and fiery like a ray of sunshine. Although a completely different scent, it reminds me a little of Desert Rosewood, probably because of the benzoin? It's always warm and soft to my nose.
Heart: only less spicy and more buttery-fatty with subtle flowers in the background.
As a rose fan, I can't smell too much rose here, it just smells floral.
Later the fragrance becomes a little softer, no longer so "smell me smell me I am the saffron butterbenzo and I am hot!!!" but calms down a little and also loses silage.
I love myrrh and I perceive it as cold, although I have been told several times that it should be warm because it is a resin. Galbanum is also a resin but definitely cool and green to my nose, and I feel the same with myrrh, which is head-clearing, grounding and very cool.
This probably stands for the Capaddocia nights:)
Opens with a bright, orange sunrise, does not undergo a great transformation but becomes a little sweatier and more buttery, and is then soothed with myrrh.
I would recommend this fragrance to conflict-averse, perhaps more outgoing people, as fragrances that are at odds with our personalities can sometimes work wonders on our subconscious. The fragrance is very spirited, curious, demanding and warm,as much as a fragrance can be.
Oh yes and I hardly notice any incense (thank goodness), I hoped it would stay away and it does. Nice and well-behaved in the background
