Fresh orange zest and honeyed florals
This Sun EDP isn't very similar to the classic Sun EDT. All they have in common is that they both smell summery in a warm way - I guess that's very fitting for the name. Usually an EDP should be heavier than an EDT, but in this case, the EDP is lighter and more floral. Sometimes it seems like perfume houses have given up on the tried and true definitions of these words, doesn't it?

Anyways, I like this. The citrus opening is refreshing, but not too screechy and sharp. For some reason I thought of blood orange while testing this, but according to the notes list, it's just regular orange zest. It has a touch of bitterness, but also feels quite juicy, maybe that's what made me think of blood orange.
I'm unsure if I ever have smelled broom in real life, so I looked it up. On the internet it's described as a warm, honeyed, narcotic floral, and that's how I would describe the floral notes of Sun EDP in general. All the freshness in this scent comes from the orange and blackcurrant, not from the flowers. The florals are intertwined with a buttery, creamy, sweet benzoin base, so they feel even richer. I could have sworn that there would be some vanilla or amber in the notes, too.

The contrast of the warming base and the zestiness on top is nicely done and feels harmonious to my nose.
This is not the most mind-blowing scent ever, but a lovely summer option for fans of florals. Just don't expect it to be close to the old Sun!

For the rating I was inbetween a 7.5 and an 8, but in the end it's a bit closer to 7.5 for me personally.

Sun EDP
I love the bottle—sunny orange + bold graphic "SUN" text. Minimal and timeless, but still fun. It's a really sweet jasmine scent which is cute at first, but doesn't make me feel like myself.

I do think the packaging is influencing our perception of the fragrance—I can't really detect anything citrusy or orange about it. I'm also no flavor chemist, but you can really clock the jasmine/grape-candy accord (methyl anthranilate) which caught me off-guard when I wore this at the gym.

As of now, it's really too saccharine and not a fragrance for me. I'll try layering it with something woodier to sober it up.

Head Over Heels
Now I have decided to write a comment in addition to the statement because the scent has simply blown me away.
I must preface that I was a fan from the very beginning of SUN EdT in the 90s, the iconic sun scent in the white bottle. Sunscreen, summer bath, Italy, soft ice cream, and good mood. I had never smelled anything so good before, I wore it all the time, the old one was very powerful, I didn't have much pocket money, so my little 30 ml bottle lasted forever. I also enjoyed using the deodorant, just as intense and simply comforting.

Fast forward to the 2000s: SUN is still around, often smelled on many people and frequently over-applied. I still like it, but I no longer have a bottle, it often feels "too much" for me, maybe also because of the heliotrope, which I like but can come off as slightly suffocating.

Now I read the very first good reviews for the new EdP, quickly stop by the perfumery after work in the afternoon, actually to test the limited summer 2020 SUN, which, by the way, is so far the best summer flanker for SUN, coconut water and the feeling you carry on your skin after a day at the beach, fresh and very light, but at that price, you can spray it on more often, very suitable for sultry hot days and reminds me strongly of "Miami Glow" by J Lo. But that's just by the way - so I test the summer 2020, take the bottle with me, and then look for the new EdP. I imagine it must be heavier than the EdT and I'm skeptical, but you can always test it.

The first impression is orange, I think well, I don't need pure orange right now, and then it’s there: the broom! In the notes, it’s called "Pfriemenginster Absolue" (Spartium junceum), also known as Spanish broom. That does it for me! Do you know that scent that lies behind the sea in the dunes in summer? Exactly that smell it captures for me here.
Other notes that I find dominant: amyris (sandalwood-like), orange blossom, of course, which cannot be missing in SUN, as it is responsible for the perceived/associated "sunscreen accord," benzoin, and a peppery spicy note. What is surprising after a while is that something "mineral" appears, not salty, not "rocky," like in Terre, more like the mineral note in "Arizona." This note is rather fresh, but lasts a long time and is still recognizable the next morning. Are those the carrot seeds?
What is not present: heliotrope, the benzoin is quite sufficient to create a lovely sweetness, jasmine certainly contributes to that as well.

Overall, I must confess, this is the most beautiful "new" Sun I have ever smelled. Price-performance ratio is very good and I am positively surprised, this SUN is a true innovation and I believe, hope, that it will be a success.

Those who love the sweet heaviness of the EdT will find a refreshing counterpart here that remains true to the original character; those who can no longer smell this will find an alternative that is not just a flanker but a real evolution.

Edit: unfortunately, many still compare it to the white "old" Sun EdT and are then disappointed. It is an independent, completely new scent, and that must be known beforehand.

Underestimated
Actually, I was at Douglas because I wanted to get the SUN Edt again.

Then the friendly saleswoman asked me if I knew the EDP and happily handed me the 2021 version.

I sniffed it and nooooo... Thanks, I'll stick with the EDT.
When the saleswoman was gone, I let my gaze wander a bit and reached for the bottle next to the one I had just rejected and oooohhhhh...

What a beautiful, bright, fresh orange without any bitter citrus notes.
It was love at first spray.
It came home with me.
In fact, it smells to me like an orange juice spritzer with a very, very subtle sweetness. Primarily, it is fresh for me.
I can't really smell any floral notes here; the flowers are completely hiding, except maybe for a hint of daffodil.

What it is not, in my opinion, is generic; I haven't smelled anything similar so far.

The sillage is also good, but it has the flaw that all Jil Sander fragrances have had for me so far... The longevity is moderate.
However, for the price, you can spray it on without a guilty conscience more often.

The bottle is... Yes. So if someone values a beautiful bottle, they won't be satisfied here; it is simple and reminds me of the packaging of a sunscreen. This might also be intentional due to the name, but sunscreen bottles are usually not particularly exciting.

Blind Date
To be honest, I didn't expect much and just ordered it without knowing how the scent would smell. The price-performance ratio is great. The bottle looks fine. When I caught a whiff of the fragrance, wow, how delicious, fresh, and summery it smells. Mega addictive and perfect for summer. It makes me think of sun, beach, and sea. Totally feminine as well, this scent is hardly known and is totally underestimated. So if you're looking for a great, affordable summer fragrance, you're in the right place :)

Orange dream!!! Instantly puts me in a summer mood, sweet and juicy, with a creamy mild finish. Had to get it right away, even better than the original Sun! Lasts great!!!

Voluminous, concentrated floral power, as radiant as a blinding ray of light. Has nothing to do with the original Sun. Fabulous!

"Can be worn in the sun." Alcohol-free - but contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Less recommended for eczema and asthma.

Ah, it's beautiful. Starts fruity. Then becomes creamy sweet and somehow oceanic. Everything just fits (for me).....

Warm, sunny, creamy. It's just that the orange blossom ruins it for me again. Too bad, I thought this one would be it...

I really like it compared to the original Sun! It’s somehow like sea buckthorn soft serve with orange zest - creamy, delicious, fruity, pleasantly sweet and creamy!

At first, it’s a wonderful orange, but within minutes it turns into an extremely stuffy, creamy cleaning product or toilet freshener. Unbearable!

It's delicious! It gives the Sun portfolio a new aura and is also under a top P/L star. In the drydown, it reminds me of TF EdS Blanc.

Sweet and orange-scented. Swimming pool, chlorinated. Capri + Split, heavy floral swim caps. Totally Flower-Powrdauz.
But: oh yes...
