Don't cry, sugar!
Sugar. Aniseed. Or is it liquorice? Whatever, it's covered up by sugar anyway. Sugar. Liquorice. Vanilla sugar. Liquorice. Soap. Vanilla sugar. A breath of woodiness. Liquorice. Or aniseed? Whatever, vanilla sugar. A breath of caramel. And sugar.

There's supposed to be mandarine in it? I don't detect that at all. The blossoms are probably the reason I smell soap.
Apart from that: Aniseed or liquorice (star anise smells different from aniseed), a breath of wood, a breath of caramel, a couple of sachets of vanilla sugar and sugar by the pound.

My dentist must be rubbing his hands...

A fun gourmand
Sweet, sugary fragrances are not going to attract everyone, and in all honesty, I grew out of liking overly sweet fragrances the day I turned 21. I wasn't expecting much from Diesel Loverdose, so when a sales assistant sprayed my arm with it last week I was ready to protest. Thank God I offered my arm to be sprayed. Loverdose is sweet like I expected it to be, but it's also really nice, actually better than nice, in some ways it smells quite sexy.

Loverdose to my nose is a cross between Britney Spears Fantasy and Lolita Lempicka EDP. It has the cotton candy texture of the former and the licoricey darkness of the latter.

Despite its sweetness, the composition is rather smooth and balanced. The opening is a lightly sugared vanilla and licorice blend, slightly gourmand in nature. I found the heart more interesting with the introduction of spicy anise, sweet jasmine and syrupy amber. I like how Loverdose also has a subtle spiciness which counteracts well with the vanilla.

The drydown was mostly powdered woods and vanilla to my nose, the licorice having receded to the background. I must add that this fragrance was pleasing in terms of longevity and sillage, lasting well over 8 hours on my skin.

I'm not a big fan of the bottle, as holding it in your hand while attempting to spray at the same time is rather difficult. Another negative point is that the juice stains clothes a pinkish colour, so avoid spritzing on your white t-shirt.

Loverdose
Bold, brazen and sassy! One of the only perfumes I can handle with gardenia in it (because I can't detect it). I love this "bombshell" of a fragrance. Sweet and thick but not cloying or suffocating. The licorice and vanilla really make this perfume a star for me. The bottle isn't exactly practical but who cares when it's as pretty as it is! Great scent for autumn and winter. A great choice for those with lots of confidence. Not a quiet fragrance. This one is loud and proud! I will always have a bottle of this on hand.

my first love
found this early in my fragrance journey when i wanted something like black opium that wasnt black opium and i instantly fell in love

something about the licorice is most intoxicating when combined with the petrichor of an approaching thunderstorm, this is a girl who wants to be edgy but has the whiny limpid soul of an avid anais nin reader

shes too kittenish to be a lion yet she still sinks her claws in you if you pet her soft belly, she wants to seduce but is too melancholic, too acerbic, a sub in a dommes body, warm cotton panties under a mini mini skirt

the opening is chemically, strong and a bit headache inducing before it settles into a spicy warm vanilla a girl who thinks herself too good for warm vanilla sugar but still craves the comfort of the smell

My first love...
Loverdose was my first signature scent, starting from when I was in my early twenties. I was into alt-rock, metal, the goth way of life, and Loverdose was not the 'basic' fruity floral fragrance that most of my peers were wearing. I felt so edgy and grown up when I wore this. Even now, almost 15 years later, I still love this scent. It's no longer my signature, but it very much has remained a cold weather favourite. This was also the first perfume that I repurchased after finishing it.

Loverdose is great for those cold and frosty winter days and will keep you feeling all warm and cozy. I haven't smelled anything quite like it. The only negative I can think of is that it can be a little overpowering when just applied. The smell is very strong.

It starts with a strong mixture of licorice and star anise. After about an hour or so those tend to fade for me and I can distinguish a tinge of jamsmin, some woody notes and a teeny tiny bit of the mandarin. When all the sillage has gone you can still smell a lovely vanilla on your skin.

Loverdose is my favourite to wear in autumn and winter. Even though I'm freezing and the wind and rain is ruining my hair, I'll still feel beautiful, interesting and just a little bit mysterious when I wear this.

The star anise-licorice combo is very noticeable and made warmer by the woody-sweet base.
Wear it in the cold season for its strong sillage

Different than anything else I own. Definitely edgy and gives off an alt femme vibe. Been a fave of mine since launch.

Salty licorice candy, flowers just cameo. For licorice-lovers only.

Very nostalgic as a finnish person, like liquorice candy. My favorite fragrance.

My little sister always wore that!
Clearly licorice and vanilla. A bit sharp here and there, but sweet. Just like my sister :D

Or something like that.

Incredibly artificial chemical licorice brew with a piercing headache-inducing sweetness. The individual components don't harmonize at all!

Smells exactly like an anise candy stand at the Christmas market. Plus, there's a slight boozy note (from the licorice liqueur?). Great cold scent :)
